Nancy Giles

Nancy Giles has been a contributor to the Peabody Award-winning "CBS News Sunday Morning" since 2003, voicing her opinions on everything from politics and race to pop culture and the conspiracy of high heels.

As an actress, she was in the ensemble cast of ABC-TV's Emmy Award-winning series "China Beach," and was the announcer and sometimes co-host of "Fox After Breakfast." On film: "Joshua," the documentary "Before the Music Dies," "True Crime," "Working Girl," and "Big." On radio: "The Jay Thomas Morning Show" (New York City), and "Giles and Moriarty" with CBS News correspondent Erin Moriarty (Philadelphia). "G&M" won back-to-back "Gracie" Awards (American Women in Radio and Television) for Best Talk Show. You've also heard her voice on commercials, animated series, and subliminally in plus-size clothing stores.

Giles toured with Chicago's Second City, won a Theatre World Award for "Mayor: The Musical" Off-Broadway, and has written and performed two solo pieces: "Black Comedy: The Wacky Side of Racism" and "Notes of a Negro Neurotic." She's adapting that material, essays, and other embarrassing stories for a book she's praying people will buy.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women account for about 36 percent of the country's reported abortions, even though blacks are less than 13 percent of the population.

Are you kidding me CBS!? Nancy is a disgrace. Pro-lifers, who care about the lives of any and all unborn children, no matter the race or gender is somehow racist? Wow...Here are just a few quotes from the founder of Planned Parenthood, the racist, Margaret Sanger:

I will be short and to the point, as many I am sure have corrected you by now. It is a shame, more than a shame that a journalist would say such a thing, especially something that is entirely the opposite of the truth. Margaret Sanger started the abortion infacide to decrease the number of blacks in America, and they remain the highest number of deaths. We are wanting to save children, not concerned with the color of their skin, sorry to hear YOU are. I just can't believe you are so uninformed and still have a job.

Really, Ms. Giles? It may seem odd to you that there are a great many millions of people, perfectly sane people like myself, hardly a zealot, who are opposed to the taking of a life, whether black, white or whatever. What is truly 'creepy' is the reasoning behind the founding of Planned Parenthood.

As she wrote in her autobiography, Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood in 1916 "to stop the multiplication of the unfit." This, she boasted, would be "the most important and greatest step towards race betterment."

In an essay included in her writing collection held by the Library of Congress, Sanger urged her abortion clinic colleagues to "breed a race of thoroughbreds." Nationwide "birth control bureaus" would propagate the proper "science of breeding" to stop impoverished, non-white women from "breeding like weeds."

Your commentary this morning about your mother struck a chord with me. In 2004 I lost my mother to a massive stroke and my life changed forever. While I got through it, I never got over it and I'm not sure I ever want to "get over it". I want to remember the warm sticky buns and donuts she made for me; I want to remember her off-beat humor and sage advice. I never want to forget the image of her open arms whenever I came to visit. When she died, it saddened me to the bottom of my heart knowing that no one in this world would ever love me as completly or intensely as she did. She deserved so much better than what she got. As she lay dying, I told her that she could never realize how much I loved her, but when I saw that small inkling of a smile, I knew that she understood.

Your piece this morning about mothers really hit home for me. Like you, I lost my mother many years ago, and I think about her almost every day. I am lucky enough to have many nieces and nephews, and also great-nieces and nephews with whom I have wonderful relationships and for whom I believe I play a very nurturing, caring role, which benefits me as much as it does them. Mother's day is always a tough day for me, and as I listened to you this morning, it was wonderful to know that I am in good company.

Nancy, I am not a fan of yours, however, your comments today on Sunday Morning were absolutely outstanding! It should be made the lead-in and broadcasted before every political debate so that the commentators and their bosses don't loose sight of the purpose of what it is they are trying to accomplish, i.e., Presidential material or not. Your first questions to Newt are what I what to know; not about an ex-wife's scorn.

webbman, please do a simple search and you can find hundreds of thousands of sources as well as a full explanation of what "impeachment" means. Most people believe that impeachment is the removal of a President from office, but it's only the first step in such an action. Impeachment is similar to an indictment, when charges are brought against an individual accused of a crime. It's followed by a trial and either conviction or acquittal; a public official can be removed from office only following conviction on those charges.

If you read Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution, removing a president from office involves impeachment by the House _and_ conviction by the Senate. Removal is automatic upon conviction. Both Clinton and Andrew Johnson were impeached by the House but were acquitted in the Senate so both remained in office.
