Secret Service dog dies in line of duty
A U.S. Secret Service dog died in the line of duty this weekend, falling to its death from a New Orleans parking garage during a bomb sweep for a visit by Vice President Joe Biden.
The black and brown Belgian Malinois was working Saturday evening on the roof of the Premier Parking garage near the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where Biden was set to appear at a fundraiser for Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La. Police confirm the dog fell from the six-story structure, according to New Orleans CBS affiliate WWL-TV.
Federal agents and police rushed the injured animal to a Metairie Veterinary clinic via motorcade, but veterinarians could not revive it.
