In its first comment following the horrific shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, the National Rifle Association today said it is "prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again."
The NRA went silent in the wake of the tragedy last Friday: The gun-rights group's Facebook page disappeared, it stopped sending out tweets, and it told reporters that "[u]ntil the facts are thoroughly known, NRA will not have any comment."
On Tuesday, the group said it would hold a "major news conference" on Friday, December 21 in the Washington D.C., area to further explain its position. It did not offer additional details on the press conference.
In addition to promising "meaningful contributions" to avert another tragedy, the NRA said in its short statement that its members were heartbroken by the shooting.
"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters - and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown," the statement reads. "Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting."

Before I could fire the Browning, the order came to stand easy on the line...then shortly thereafter, to clear and lock all weapons (possible troops in the impact zone)
I cleared the BAR and the instructor (an old style E-6 Gunnery Sgt) was SUPPOSED to clear and lock my M-1 before returning it to me...
He took the clip out, but left an armor-piercing steel jacketed ball round in the chamber...but being such a boot, I checked it and probably kept him from ever becoming an E-7 Gunny (the range officer was next to him when I popped the round out of a weapon that he was supposed to know how to clear and lock.
From that day to this, I have proceeded on the assumption that I am the ONLY individual on the planet who can be completely trusted with firearms...and that attitude kept me from ever being shot...at least by accident...
But lately I've even begun wondering about myself...which leaves no one!
Guns are designed to kill...guns in the hands of the feloniously stupid kill an awful lot of people and much more indiscriminately...perhaps in a way even more tragically...since the victims might be friends or relatives you weren't particulary mad at
Just collataral damage from "friendly fire"
********!
Try for some consistancy, CBS

So how would a teacher in a classroom full of frightened students be any different than this scenario?
They can make the world a much safer place by hiding in the basement and never, ever coming out!
Of course you could use a horse, (rideby shooting?), but good luck reloading a musket on the back of a galloping horse.
now then tell me what is the problem
answer this if this individual was at the school and they heard the break in and they just happened to have a gun on them and before you knew it lanza was down on the floor well what would be the headline then and the reactions would the person be charged probably yes but maybe not convicted in court but now this person has a record even though he saved peoples lives
so tell me what is wrong with this world today please
You need a LOT of work
You also need to be kept away from firearms, sharp objects, matches etc...
