Elizabeth Warren assigned to Senate banking committee

Incoming Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., has been assigned a seat on the Senate Banking Committee in a move that will not please her opponents on Wall Street.

Warren has been a harsh critic of Wall Street practices, and the securities and investment industry spent $3 million in an unsuccessful effort to boost her Republican opponent Scott Brown in the Massachusetts Senate race, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The financial/insurance/real estate sector spent another $6 million to boost Brown. Those sectors combined spent less than $1 million on Warren's behalf.

Warren is an architect of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency created as part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform bill. Opposition from Wall Street and Republicans in Congress helped keep Warren from being named the head of that agency last year.

The Banking Committee oversees the implementation of Dodd-Frank and other regulation of the banking industry.

Warren will be near the bottom of the totem pole in terms of Senate seniority, which will limit what she will be able to accomplish legislatively. But her position on the committee will boost her efforts to make the case that "the game is rigged" to put Wall Street and the wealthy ahead of the middle class.

Warren joins another progressive, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on the Banking Committee. Other Democrats on the committee, including Sens. Charles Schumer of New York and Robert Menendez of New Jersey, are more closely aligned with Wall Street.

I am very pleased to see that Elizabeth Warren is now on the Senate banking committee. Senator Warren is exceptionally well educated and informed, and will make it much more difficult for Wall Street and their cronies to continue to rig the U.S. financial system and exploit the many to the advantage of the few.

She won the election because she was backed by all the liberal cronies
-----------------------------------

Actually, she won by getting the most votes, something the pugs don't understand. The pugs try to win elections by keeping those who would oppose them from voting. Guess what, that just doesn't seem to work, does it?

Maybe it's time for the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, and Fake News to look for a different strategy. Looking out for the people you actually represent would be a good start.

She's a fraud. She got where she is because she claimed American Indian ancestry and got all kinds of freebies along the way. Suddenly when she decides to run and everybody and their mother start to investigate her...she apologizes because she really has no American Indian ancestery! lol So she stared off with a big fat lie!!! She's Barney Frank....just in a dress. I would expect nothing less from the state of Massachusetts. Corrupt state politicians everywhere. Google it.....you'll be enlightened! And as far as their healthcare system being the model for Obamacare. Here's how it goes....if you don't have healthcare, you can get on the state's subsidized system. But what's really interesting is that once you mention that you are on the state's system, it takes you 3 months to see a Dr for a hangnail. No one takes the insurance! lol Lived there for most of my life.....thank god..I got out! Due to politician corruption...the most expensive state to live in behind California! Three times it's size! lol

She'd do well opening a casino, outlet mall, or fireworks stand somewhere. But then again, she seems like the type who would just sell 'sparklers and snakes'.

It's not about what you want, it's what the customer wants!

Any How, good luck to her, she should do just fine helping oversee our greedy, souless, and broken banking system.

I am hoping Senator Elect Warren reads this brilliant article by the constitutional scholar Glenn Greenwald. It speaks to her outrage at those who get away with near murder by tanking our entire banking system and getting away with it!

Warren's campaign is over 400,000 in debt. She sent letters out to the voters of Massachusetts to help her cover the debt. On the other hand, Scott Brown, her oponent, had more than 450,000 left over in campaign money! Now you tell me whose better equipt to handle finance and banking! This woman is a fraud! She won the election because she was backed by all the liberal cronies in who control all government positions in Massachusetts. She's Barney "I'm not" Frank in a dress! They simply replaced one idiot with another! lol
