New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wanted former New York senator and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for mayor of the Big Apple, The New York Times reports.
Bloomberg reportedly called Clinton "some months ago" where he pitched the idea to her. It was a proposal she quickly turned down.
The independent Bloomberg is about to enter his final year in office after serving an unprecedented third term made possible after the law was changed to accommodate his wishes to stay on in the job. The mayoral race is about to kick into high gear and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn appears to be the early frontrunner.
Clinton and Bloomberg reportedly have a close relationship. They worked together during her time in the U.S. Senate, especially in the aftermath of 9/11. Additionally, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, headquartered his foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative, in Harlem.
Hillary Clinton plans to step down from her perch running the State Department early in 2013, and she has not indicated what her next move will be. She has said she wants to step down from the "high wire of American politics." However, there's intense speculation that she'll make another bid for the White House in 2016, though when asked by Marie Claire magazine in October about her 2016 prospects, she said she is not planning to run and that she wants "to just have my own time back."

New York citizens are still reeling from Sandy. The damage doesn't just include that night, but the time of rebuilding.
I understand Mayor Bloomburg has ordered a raid on a Sandy disaster relief station. Did he not ban food donations to government-run homeless shelters because of the salt, fat anbd calorie content? He did plan to hold the Marathon, and pushed for it, immediately following Sandy.
Open your eyes NYC, seems to me anyone who Bloomburg wants or endorses, would not be a good choice for the Big Apple.
