Obama, Romney eat chili, talk leadership

In their first face-to-face meeting since the third and final presidential debate, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney joined President Obama for a private lunch at the White House today, where he and Mr. Obama chowed down on white turkey chili and Southwestern grilled chicken salad while discussing America's leadership in the world.

The lunch, which was announced yesterday, was closed to the press. According to a White House readout provided later on, however, the former rivals "visited for an hour over lunch in the Private Dining Room adjacent to the Oval Office," at which point "Governor Romney congratulated the President for the success of his campaign and wished him well over the coming four years." They also pledged to "stay in touch," according to the readout, "particularly if opportunities to work together on shared interests arise in the future."

An aide to Romney said the meeting was "friendly," and the two posed for a picture together (above) in the oval office.

Earlier today, Romney met with former running mate Paul Ryan at a hotel in Washington D.C., where, according to a Ryan aide, the two shared "updates from their families and reflections from the campaign," and discussed "resolving the critical fiscal and economic challenges ahead."

"I remain grateful to Governor Romney for the honor of joining his ticket this fall, and I cherish our friendship," Ryan said in a statement after the meeting. "I'm proud of the principles and ideas we advanced during the campaign and the commitment we share to expanding opportunity and promoting economic security for American families."

Since his election night defeat, Romney has maintained a relatively low profile, aside from a family jaunt to Disneyland, and remained publicly silent on his plans for the future. He's expected to take up an office at the Boston-area venture capital firm Solamere Capital, which his son Tagg founded, but according to the Associated Press he's just subletting office space.

Since Obama has NO business sense or experience and runing TRILLIONS of dollars in debt (no other president has spent so much in history in 3 1/2 yrs.) Obama probably wanted to know how to run a business, which clearly he has no ideal what he is doing-has spent BILLIONS on green engery, wanting to be South America's first customer in buying oil-but does NOT want to drill here and all of his "no sense" ideals have failed-guess he was asking advice from a SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS MAN that has made money!!! Loved the Russian online newspaper (Pravda) article- "Recently, Obama has been re-elected by an ILLITERATE socciety and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them. Goes on to say He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so. His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. "President Putin could never imagined anyone so ignorant or so willing to destroy their people like Obama much less seeing millions vote for someone like Obama." There's more and the article is right on!!!!!! Get the "2016 Obama's America" DVD and you will see what his plan is.

You are talking about business experience like George W. Bush?
You and your crazy republicans should be thanking Obama for bringing this country back from the economic melt down that the GOP and their friends on Wall street created.

The main reason Obama won, and both parties try to pass it off, is because he promised AMNESTY to millions of illegals and snickered when he mentioned closing the border. Both the Senate and Congresses greed and gutlessness gave our country to what, a flood of "poor people" whose only intent is to live of the Government until they can surpass our very own by living off our backs. At least Romney had the guts to stand up for this country, even-though he couldn't mimic Obamas gift that keeps on giving. The illegals advocates and globalists got busy, did a better grassroots effort than the unaware Americans, recruiting every non-white and union possible to goose-step with them. Greed, threats and theft is power in this country. Hollywood Zionists pulled off the rest.

Oh get over yourself!! The reason President Obama won was because he was the candidate that made sense. Unlike Republicans, the rest of America have been paying attention. We know what President Obama has been doing to move our country forward and we see what Republicans have been doing to keep him from doing anything. The majority of Americans REJECTED Republicans and rejected Republican ideology. Their plans to make the President a one term President failed. Deal with it.

Ryan, of course, is going back to Congress, the only source of him millions of dollars of personal worth. Running for vice-president did not stop Ryan from concurrently running for re-election to Congress. Just in case.

I think the only hate coming out of this blog, is posting like yours.
You should try and focus on the good President Obama has done for veterans (like me) and the middle class. Unlike the staunch christservatives, who think the rich should get richer off the backs of the poor!
Remember that anyone can put lies on the web... Try and read sites that tell the truth, not those that just make up crap to hobble Democrats.
We are all Americans. If you work to hurt those who are trying to help, we will spend another four years of republicans doing anything to keep America from moving forward, because there is a black man in the White House. Of course, then you can blame President Obama and take pride in causing America to be set back again. But, then again that may be a good thing... It could mean the end of the GOP!

VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS!!!

Interesting how people take this as Obama serving up humble pie to Romney....for one, Romney didn't have to come. This is still a free nation regardless of what Obama is trying to do. I think it's more likely that Obama is seeking some solutions to the mess he has created. After a long campaign of slandering Romney, accusing him basically of murder, insulting him in every way imaginable, he now invites him to the White House so he can pick his brain since Obama really doesn't have a clue even after being in the job for 4 years. I would have loved it if Romney had told Obama to go to hell and not gone.

@davefromga....obviously, the majority of American voters think that President Obama really DOES have a clue and deserved another four years. Romney lost because he did NOT have a clue about what middle America needs and deserves. Get over it. Your attitude belongs in the 1950's.

Solutions? Really? Dude, you are delusional. If Romney had aany solutions then he would have been elected President.

By the way, President Obama obviously has a clue considering he has beaten Republican candidates TWICE to become President. I think it is you who needs to buy a clue. You should really stop posting because you have shown yourself to be a pathetically ignorant prejudiced jerk!

You mean like that great leader and compassionate soul Mitt the Twit Romney when,in May 2012 in Boca Raton,Fla.,he displayed his highly regarded leadership qualities by casually dismissing 47% of the country's citizens as deadbeats and ne'r-do-wells to a room full of fellow humanitarians!!Now THERE's leadership for ya!!I'm sure he learned that at Marie Antoinette High, while taking Let Them Eat Cake 101!!!

Or even more likely they both agreed that they were glad they never have to face off again in a national election. Strange menu selection though, I must say, unless Rick Perry was a guest.
