(CBS/AP) LONDON - FIFA has imposed a two-match ban on Colombia player Lady Andrade after U.S. forward Abby Wambach said she was "sucker-punched" by her opponent in an Olympic soccer match.

FIFA says its disciplinary committee suspended Andrade for a group match against France on Tuesday, and for the quarterfinals if Colombia advances.

Wambach said she was hit in the right eye by Andrade in the 39th minute of a 3-0 win over Colombia on Saturday.

After the game, Wambach called for FIFA to take action, while Andrade said it was "an accident."

The U.S. team did not file a formal complaint against Andrade, but it did contact FIFA.

"That doesn't belong in the game," U.S. coach Pia Sundhage said on Sunday.

Wambach, still sporting a shiner on Sunday, said she was fine. She tweeted a photo of her eye (see left) with the message: "Thanks for all the well wishes. Eye is healing fine."

She'll be able to play in the Americans' final group game Tuesday against North Korea.

A complete ban would be appropriate. Why should she (Lady) have a chance to play - who next would be sucker punched on purpose.

I know nothing about the sport or the situation, but I know something about black eyes. That Columbian must punch like a girl (yeah, I know).

they need stricter discipline on all atheletes. andrade should have been banned from the olympics. the U.S. team should have filed a formal complaint. hope solo should also have been disciplined, not entirely from all matches, but at least for two for being a twit and twittering her personal complaints about reporting.

She actually tried to punch Abby a second time as well, but Abby saw it coming and dodged the blow.

It's good that Abby made her pay shortly after the first punch with a goal, which is the best way to respond to skank on the soccer field.

The Colombian player should have gotten a much more significant ban that that, though; that's the worst show of sportsmanship in this entire games so far, and considerably worse than the lame tweets that have gotten players sent home already.

The video of this is all over youtube. It was 100% intentional. A 2 match ban is a sham.

no video? If she intentionally punched her then she should be banned from all further matches.
