Prince William and Kate Middleton to visit California in July

(CBS/AP) Prince William and Kate Middleton are heading to the Golden State this summer.

Royal officials said Thursday that the newly-married couple will visit California as part of their first foreign trip together on July 8 to July 10.

Details of their itinerary have yet to be announced.

It will be William's first official trip to the United States, and Middleton's first-ever visit to the country.

Their visit will follow their royal tour of Canada, a trip that will take them to Alberta, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, the Northwest Territories and the National Capital Region.

The royal couple - now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - married last week at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony seen around the world.

After a long weekend in private, they have returned to the remote island of Anglesey in Wales, where William is based as a Royal Air Force search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, putting off a honeymoon for now.

I would suggest they spend some time at Facebook and Google, to understand the power of American Entrepreneurship and the ability to innovate and create world leading ideas, then maybe sharing this experience with the petty author of this article who seems to think Americans don't innovate.

The Middletons are millionaires because their Uncle Gary, the drug dealer, gave them the money; nobody earns what they claim to have earned by a silly Party Pieces website - do your research. They have done nothing to enhance any philanthropy which is their job and have bilked the UK out of millions for their yawn of a wedding. This is my state and I would prefer they stay out, especially if we have to pay for their security and flouncing around. We have budget issues of our own. They're just not that special and this is not a state visit. It's so Waity can visit Posh and do some shopping. My pity is for the poor people of the UK that they got robbed by these two.

Can't wait for William and Kate to visit California! They will probably visit Los Angeles because David and Victoria Beckham live here and they were at the wedding. I'm sure they'll also be guests of honor at a party hosted at some fabulous home. They'll see the gorgeous view from the hills overlooking the city all the way to the ocean. Lucky them!
