Watch: Bill Murray entertains fans during rain delay

(CBS News) During long rain delays at Yankee Stadium, a few diehards stick around and wait it out (i.e. drink $10 beers) but most get up and make the slog home. For fans of the team's Class-A affiliate Charleston RiverDogs, however, lengthy rain delays can sometimes be better than the actual game. At least when Bill Murray is on hand.

Watch as the legendary funnyman (and RiverDogs co-owner) entertains the drenched fans during a rain delay at a recent game against the Savannah Sand Gnats. Murray circles the tarp-covered bases and belly flops into a puddle in the general vicinity of home plate.

Murray pulled off a similar performance - sans rain - for the Chicago Cubs on opening day in April when he slid into home plate after throwing out the season's first pitch at Wrigley Field.

The actor is no stranger to small-market baseball stadiums. In addition to the RiverDogs, Murray owns part of several minor league teams, including the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Brockton Rox and St. Paul Saints - a team famous for entertaining fans in a variety of creative ways.

So maybe the Steinbrenner family should take a cue from Murray and the Yankee's Single-A affiliate. While the Bronx Bombers have floated such lofty slogans as "Pride, Power, Pinstripes" and "Where Players Become Legends," the Charleston RiverDogs slogan has a decidedly different message: "Be Your Own Fan."
