The New York Times: 1) Went the Day Well 2) Creative Cause 3) Bodemeister
Handicapper Joe Drape -- who picked I'll Have Another last for the Kentucky Derby -- tapped the fourth-place finisher at Churchill Downs to win at Pimlico, noting the smaller field will benefit the colt and the Derby's fifth-place finisher, Creative Cause. Despite the five newcomers to the Preakness, Drape writes 25 of the last 28 Preakness winners also raced in the Derby.
CBS Baltimore station WJZ-TV: 1) Went the Day Well 2) Bodemeister 3) Tiger Walk
CBS Radio co-host Mark Zinno chose one of the five so-called "new shooters," Tiger Walk, to finish in the money, highlighting that the colt's owner, Sagamore Farm, ran 46-1 longshot Shared Account to win the Breeders' Cup Fillies and Mares race in 2010.
CBS Chicago station WBBM-TV: 1) Went the Day Well 2) I'll Have Another 3) Bodemeister
Racing journalist Kevin Martin expects Went the Day Well "to put himself in a stalking position" behind Bodemeister and I'll Have Another and then pass them in a move down the stretch. Even though he ranks Bodemeister third, he called the morning-line favorite "the one to beat."
The Washington Post: 1) Bodemeister 2) Creative Cause 3) I'll Have Another
Columnist Andrew Beyer writes that the all-white Hansen being out of the race "removed the most formidable other speed horse from the field," leaving the Derby's second-place finisher to set a slower pace and claim the big victory I'll Have Another snatched from him.

- It is my expertwinner opinion that "I will have another" will win the triple crown. Many critics choose "Bodemeister or Went the Day Well" to win the Preakness. However, even when these horses and other horses in the race are all contenders; the facts is that the best horse is the one that win races, not juts run in front and get tired at the end of the race like Bodemeister or a horse that try to come from behind like Went the Day Well and never get to catch the fornt runners at the end of the race. Many people will say that Bodemeister is fast and might go the distance of 1 mile and three sixtheens. However, he still got to proof that he can do it against quality horses like "I will have another." The fact if Bodemeister would have been the best horse of the race, then why he could not maintain pace at the Kentucky Derby or why he did not fight back against I will have another during the last couple of furlongs of the race. It is my expert opinion that during the Derby no other horse did push Bodemeister to run during the first stages of the race and that's why he was able to stay on the race all the way down to the final furlong. However, a great horses with not just speed but also stamina would have continously running to the end. And he did not. considering this facts and considering that I will have another have won races at shorter distances as well as long distances in better times. My pick to win the triple crown is " I will have another." The second and third and fourth position will be hard fought by Went the Day Well, Cozzine, Pretention, Creative Cause, and Bodemeister.
