Watch: Hoops team's "football" play ends in dunk
(CBS News) High school basketball season may be over and football season may be months away but one hoops team in Iowa managed to give fans the best of both worlds during an all-star game on Saturday.
Check out this "football play" run just after the opening tipoff of the Pride of Iowa Conference senior all star game.
According to the Des Moines Register, that's Bryce Carpenter at "quarterback" who took the snap and threw the long alley-oop to Hunter Van Haalen.
"We kind of thought of it five minutes before the game started and we decided to do it," Carpenter told the newspaper Monday.
The video has quickly gone viral, racking up more than 900,000 hits as of Tuesday morning.
"YouTube made it pretty big," said Carpenter, who said he and his teammates practiced the play "not a single time."
Sometimes no practice makes perfect.
