Reggie Bush "stinks," teammate says

(CBS) - It's obvious to outside observers that the Miami Dolphins are having a season to forget. At 0-6, the team is seemingly in freefall with no end in sight. Their demoralizing defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory performance against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos last Sunday can attest to that. Running back Reggie Bush summed it up recently when he said, "Right now, this team stinks."

Not all his teammates were happy about that. Safety Yeremiah Bell turned the tables on Bush, saying, "He stinks."

Bush's full statement, in response to the Dolphins' loss to Denver: "It's just embarrassing, I don't know any other way to explain it. It's an embarrassing loss. Had no business losing that game. We were up 15 points with what, five minutes left to go? And we couldn't win it? It's disgusting. Right now, this team stinks."

Several Miami players, Bell in particular, took offense to Bush seemingly throwing the whole team under the bus.

"He stinks," Bell told Examiner.com's Jeremiah Thermidor. "That shouldn't be said around this locker room. We know that we're 0-6 and we're not playing the best but at the same time there's no need for that."

But some teammates may have Bush's back. Linebacker Kevin Burnett sees things similarly to the former New Orleans Saint turned Dolphin.

"You are what you put on tape, you are what the numbers say you and right now we stink." Burnett told Thermidor. "If you're scared to admit the truth, you'll never amount to anything. So I'm definitely man enough to say we're not doing things effectively and efficiently."

"I did include myself in that equation." Burnett went on. "We turn over the football, we don't get off the field on third downs and we allow big plays so that's the equivalent of stinking. I mean, it is what it is."

Why is it news for a team mate to trash is team mate in the media. It is not news relivant, and does not deserve the space and time it is taken on this site. by Harden_Tar November 4, 2011 8:22 AM EDT: Obviously Mr. Bell is living in Egypt, because he is in denial. the Dolphins stink from top to bottom and the fact they let Tim Tebow beat them means the defense, which includes Mr. Bell, most likely stinks a bit more. Mr. Bush did not point a finger at anyone person, rather the whole team. I can see a life long Dolphin like Mr. Bell taking issue with the statement, but if the shoe fits.......; Reply to this comment

He came in as a can't miss superstar, but he is afraid to run between the tackles; he can't block the blitz; and he can't run a route. He is a complete waste of money. by PourpaixPourpaix October 27, 2011 6:57 PM EDT: If Bell is saying that Reggie Bush stinks but Bell doesn't, then it's time to bet on Miami's opponents for the rest of the season. I admire Bush for admitting an obvious problem exists. The great Yogi Berra taught me a lot about life and ethics with his "we stunk up the joint" proclamation during one World Series a long time ago. Teammates that don't lob hand grenades at each other might just figure out how to achieve greatness.
