Tiki Barber, former star running back and TV host, has filed papers with the NFL to come out of retirement and return to playing football.

The news comes from his management agency, MAXX Talent.

"BREAKING NEWS #maxxclient Tiki Barber has filed the papers with the NFL to officially come out of retirement," the agency tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

As CBSSports.com's Will Brinson notes, presumably the logic behind this move involves Barber recently divorcing his wife (alimony and child support aren't cheap, folks) and having that divorce result in him being ostracized from television (he got booted from NBC's The Today Show and moved to Yahoo! Sports).

However, Barber claims the decision is inspired by his twin brother, Ronde, who resigned with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a one-year deal recently.

"After seeing how much fun Ronde is still having it re-ignited my fire and I'm looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was," Tiki told FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.

Barber, 35, set nearly every career offensive record for the New York Giants in his 10-year career, making three Pro Bowls. NBC hired him just after he retired in 2007.

He may have the dreams of a 25 year old but the realities of 35 will set in.

Sounds like Tiki is a little short on money & it's his own fault. I would be surprised if he makes a roster, what a self-centered jerk.

he will make it since he is only 35 y/o. if tiger woods, brett favre, vicks, and et al, get a free pass for their behavior away from their sport than this man deserves the same kind of break.
