NBC's "Today" skips 9/11 moment of silence for Kris Jenner interview

Kris Jenner speaks to Savannah Guthrie on the "Today" show, Sept. 11, 2012.

(CBS News) NBC is facing criticism after it chose to air an interview with Kris Jenner on Tuesday instead of the moment of silence marking the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

While CBS News' "CBS This Morning," ABC's "Good Morning America" and cable networks carried live coverage of the moment, NBC's "Today" show opted to feature Jenner, who spoke about the new season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and her breast implants, TVNewser notes.

The network's move sparked backlash on Twitter, and prompted comments on the "Today" show's Facebook page.

According to TVNewser, the moment of silence was shown in New York on NBC's local affiliate. WNBC broke into "Today" to broadcast its own coverage.

"Today" spokeswoman Megan Koph told CBSNews.com, "The 'Today' show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show."

Most of their programming is total garbage but I used to watch the NFL games on Sunday night and the hockey on NBCSports. This year I decided to put my money where my mouth is and blocked all of the NBC channels. I will get my hockey fix at the local AHL games.

People: YOU WILL NOT harm NBC by saying I won't watch.

YOU WILL HARM NBC by telling their ADVERTISERS that you will boycott their products because they choose to support this idiot network.

Let's put a list together of the advertisers of Today and let them know how we feel!

How many of you who are so offended observed any type of tribute to our war heroes on Pearl Harbor Day? How many of you even know when that is?

I always liked (past tense) the Today show, but have been struggling; this nudges me over the line. From now on it's anything but, for morning news - and to have chosen this particular interview, shows a really shallow perspective regarding news priorities.

Yes, their choice - and the consequences that come with it.

NBC is a subversive network that only presents totally biased Democratic Party propaganda, in support of the Democratic Party effort to take control of America, and establish a dictatorship in America.

This is shameful, especially to pick the Kardashians over the 911 moment. The Kardashians are nothing but talentless ****** who would not even be known unless one of the ****** placed a sex video with some black guy on the internet, what a joke, wow. Also, any followers of these idiots are a bunch of losers.

It does not surprise me that NBC ignored the 9/11 moment of silence tribute. NBC has adopted a far left political agenda just like the NY Times. Objective journalism no longer exists in their echo chamber universe. Carol Raphael BROSNAN

It has NOTHING to do with politics! I am sick to death of people like you assuming that those of us who lean left don't love our country. I was absolutely DISGUSTED by this. I will no longer watch anything on NBC.

A Camera *****, oh rather she is the pimp for her three camera *****, apparently is MORE important to NBC execs - I wasn't aware that non-celebrity realty TV shows played on the NBC.
