The Casey Anthony trial was at the center of last week's episode, causing friction among members of the news team over how and whether to cover it. The promo for Sunday's episode, titled "The Greater Fool," hints at a tension-filled hour with the potential of a major firing, marijuana accusations and the usual mix of romance.
Love it or hate it, "The Newsroom" will be back for another season. When the series first got under way this summer, its debut garnered mixed reaction, with some reviewers criticizing the role of women on the show and others calling its news-coverage depiction unrealistic.
Sorkin, the series creator, recently spoke about the polarizing show, telling NBC Chicago, "I don't like riling people up. That's not what I'm going for, but I think that when people are talking this much and this loudly about a TV show, it's good for television."
As for season two, viewers might be in for a bit of a change. Sorkin said he has hired a range of consultants from all media spectrums to help shape the arc of the series.
"They're going to bring real experiences that they've had working in a newsroom," Sorkin said. But real news stories will return. Sorkin said he hasn't decided what will be covered, but don't be surprised if the upcoming presidential election makes its way into season two. (The candidate debates made a cameo last week.)
"The Newsroom" airs Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

- The characters, with exception of Jeff Daniles, are sophomoric, the plots are moronic, however, it probably is a good depection of what happens back stage at MSNBC. I was expecting more, but should not have since the writers came from the west wing and the producers are from the same company who thinks Bill maher is entertaining. If they continue to run it against summer reruns the show may have a chance to make it.

- Bravo, Aaron Sorkin. The show is a gem, but the message is the centerpiece: there is some sanity in this political morass, and someone calling a spade a spade. The conservative Republicans have handed over the good of the country for the good of the party in their attempts to make the current administration look bad and have had us in gridlock for at least two years. This two-party system will be the death of our form of government: we need to go back to the parliament format and start over or I fear we are lost.

- It's amazing we are already at the season finale and there are still so many questions to ask. I won't be watching The Newsroom when it first airs, but I will see it as soon as I can. I'm going to a wedding reception that night so I'm glad I set a recording of it on my Hopper. I'll be recording several of my favorite shows that night with more than enough hard drive space on my DVR. My coworkers at Dish suggested that I make the upgrade to the Hopper and it's been a good investment. After seeing a few preview photos from the finale I think we will finally get see who is after McAvoy with near fatal consequences.
