Rosie O'Donnell suffers a heart attack

(CBS News) Rosie O'Donnell says she is "lucky to be here" after suffering a heart attack last week.

O'Donnell, 50, detailed the experience on her blog Monday, saying that she helped lift an "enormous woman" out of her car on Aug. 14 - and that a few hours later, her chest ached, her arms were sore, she became nauseous and had clammy skin.

She initially thought she had pulled a muscle, she continued, but then added in her free-verse writing style, "Maybe this is a heart attack/i googled womens heart attack symptoms/i had many of them/but really? - i thought - naaaa."

O'Donnell said she took some Bayer aspirin ("Thank god/saved by a tv commercial/literally") and went to a cardiologist the next day.

She said her coronary artery was 99 percent blocked. A stent was inserted.

"They call this type of heart attack/the Widow maker/i am lucky to be here," she wrote. "Know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911/save urself."

A rep for O'Donnell told Us Weekly that she is now "home and resting comfortably." Earlier this month, she revealed that her fiancee, Michelle Rounds, was diagnosed with desmoid tumors.

The comedian recently hosted "The Rosie Show" on the Oprah Winfrey Network. It was canceled in March.

Listen up guys! I was 52 years old and 135 lbs when I had my heart attack and it happened exactly the same way. I also had done some heavy lifting as I was moving my office. For some odd reason this will trigger the otherwise none existing symptoms. I also experienced extreme anxiety which I thought was all it was until the nausea, headache and numbness. It doesn't effect only the over weight or those who go without annual check ups. I actually saw a doctor two weeks prior to my attack because I knew "something wasn't right". You may not like the woman but you are no better than she with your harsh words. I am not a fan, but I think she is sending the message and you should listen, even though you obviously have a severe dislike towards her. This could happen to anyone so be aware and live life as if it is your last day. This is a silent killer like an internal time bomb waiting to explode. Any of these symptoms need to be reported to your doctor or the ER. It could save your life if you get medical attention in time. I hope your harsh words will never come back to harm you.

I used to be a huge fan of Rosie. But lately she has gotten so nasty, angry and mean that I have lost all interest in her.

I hope this wakeup call will turn her attitude around, but Im not hopeful.

BTW, she made jokes about Dick Cheney's heart problems. I wonder if shes ok with jokes about hers?

although heart disease can be hereditary blocked arteries are more likely the sign of a very high fat low fiber diet I hope this was a wake up call to her since this can occur again

Well what can you expect when your overweight, it's like hauling an arm chair along with you all day long. Sooner or later that baggage is going to say I can't take it anymore. You can't keep eating high on the hog, and expect to lose any weight. With all her money she has she could well afford to do something about it. Personally I can't stand her and her big mouth.

I've never cared for her, either. She comes across as nasty and mean-spirited, and I think a poor attitude contributes to a person's physical health, so I'm not surprised she had a heart attack at 50. I'll bet she thought she was different, that she didn't have to eat properly or have check-ups.

You're absolutely correct. The saddest part is that Ms. O'Donnell had a heart attack. You would thinks that some idiots would just keep their mouths shut and allow Ms. O'Donnell the time and RIGHT to heal.
