/ PBS(CBS News) The third season of "Downton Abbey" won't air in the U.S. until January, but two new clips are giving fans a sneak peek at what's to come.
Britain's ITV posted the 20-second videos on its YouTube page over the weekend to promote the show's return in the U.K. (Watch the clips below.)
In the first clip, the Crawley family discusses the arrival of Lady Cora's mother, Martha Levinson (played by Shirley MacLaine), from America.
"I'm so looking forward to seeing your mother again," the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) tells Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern). "When I'm with her I'm reminded of the virtues of the English."
"Isn't she American?" asks Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens).
"Exactly," Smith deadpans.
In the second clip, Smith and MacLaine face off in person.
"Downton Abbey" returns in the U.K. next month on ITV. U.S. audiences will have to wait until Jan. 6, when Season 3 premieres on PBS.
