(CBS News) Sweden's bachelor Prince Carl Philip was attacked in a weekend nightclub brawl in Cannes, the palace has confirmed.
A spokesman for the Palace told the press: "Prince Carl Philip was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a stranger while with a companion on the night of August 11th outside a club in Cannes, France.
"The prince feels fine under the circumstances and has not received any injuries from the incident."
The second child and only son of King Carl Gustaf, the 33-year-old royal was partying with his girlfriend, glamor model Sofia Hellqvist, at Baoli club, when he was set upon by three men, in a dustup that was caught on a witness' cell phone.
Royal officials say the king and queen are aware of the incident and have confirmed that Carl Philip's schedule will continue as normal. The prince is third in line to the Swedish throne after his older sister, Crown Princess Victoria, and her infant daughter, Princess Estelle.
The prince, who tops several lists of good-looking royals, had just come to the French coast from London, where he and his brother-in-law, Prince Daniel, showed their support for the Swedish athletes competing in the 2012 Olympics.
