TJ Jackson appointed temporary guardian of Michael Jackson's children

(CBS/AP) A judge has appointed Tito Jackson's son, TJ Jackson, as a temporary guardian of Michael Jackson's children.

Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff temporarily suspended Katherine Jackson as the children's guardian because she is in Arizona and hadn't spoken with them in several days. He said there was no evidence that she had done anything wrong and that he would restore her to the guardian role after she returned.

TJ Jackson appeared in court Wednesday and sought the temporary appointment, but his attorney said he wasn't trying to replace Katherine Jackson permanently.

TJ Jackson says he spoke with Katherine Jackson on Tuesday, but she sounded strange. He says she was using words he's never heard her use and her voice at times sounded slurred.

"I've never heard my grandmother talk like that," TJ Jackson said reluctantly. "In every way. The sound in her voice. The pauses."

The appointment comes after days of turmoil among the Jackson family, with a relative reporting Katherine Jackson missing before she was located safely with other family members in Arizona.

Katherine Jackson has been the court-appointed guardian of her son Michael's three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket. The children have remained at the home they share with their grandmother in Calabasas.

The house was the scene of a family disturbance Monday that sheriff's deputies continue to investigate.

Michael Jackson's only daughter, Paris, has posted updates in recent days on Twitter, including her displeasure with not being allowed to speak with her grandmother for more than a week. On Tuesday, she wrote, "9 days and counting... so help me god I will make whoever did this pay."

She updated her Twitter page on Wednesday, too:

Aside from the rude unsubstantiated comments by ignorant people this is all speculation and should not be up for discussion. No one, I repeat NO ONE, knows all the facts and until the truth finally emerges everyone should just shut up. Want to do something constructive? Pray! It's none of our business. You are all listening to TMZ junk - where do you think all this came from? Tabloid media is alive and well - don't fall for it.

Bizarre family. Poor Paris. She is extraordinarily beautiful and very wealthy. At 14 she probably doesn't understand all the attention or the motives of the people around her whether it's family or not.
She needs a strong and STABLE member of the family to guide and protect her, and guarantee that she gets a very good education in academia and life. Stay away from the media!!
I hope they all get well educated.
Unfortunately, most people in entertainment industry are shallow and
self serving. (I don't understand that with all that money not one person in the family has a doctorate or a degree in something.)

I hope the media stops reporting on the tweets of a 14 year old. If I cursed my aunt out at 14, I'd have been smacked too.

Are you kidding? Considering her legal guardian has not contacted her in over a week, you don't think she's got a reason to be upset? Actually, I've been worried about those kids. These tweets sound like distress calls. What does she mean, that everybody wants to take control of her? I hope somebody other than the Jackson clan are checking on the welfare of Michael's kids and their grandma. This is bizarre.

Somebody needs to come up with a better nickname for that youngest child.

Imagine having to go through life being known as "Blanket."

How can these 3 ever be normal? it's sickening that they were purchased like pedigreed puppies that were bred to sell for millions. It's shame that their real mother/mother's and father/fathers can't claim them

Michael Jackson is their real father. Michael Jackson was tri-racial. His father Joseph Jackson has blue eyes. His mother is part Cherokee. Almost all African Americans are part white, due to repeated rapes of slaves by slave holders.

Since Michael Jackson was tri-racial himself, when he had kids with light-skinned moms, they came out light. But they are not white. Paris is clearly what would have been called an "octoroon" in the old Jim Crow South. Her skin is darker than a white person's skin. That's why her eyes look so luminous.

This business about them not being Michael's children is complete malarkey.

No Skysong263, I wouldn't reply to this but your thinking is so flawed and aggressive that I had to. The only people that believe these are his offspring are you and the rest of the fan club members not choosing reality as a staple. I know plenty of bi tri and the like. At 14, Paris would have changed drastically. So the guy wanted kids and had cash. What's the big deal? They aren't of African decent which is fine. But c'mon....Michael at 21 and at any age looked as African American as they come and so does the rest of the family which is good. Sometimes the mystery isn't that deep or confusing. Sometimes the surface is the story. The story is the kids and what has befallen them. They are kids that probably haven't been allowed to be as such and that's the tragedy. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes with a family broiled in turmoil and a history that has surrounded them with nothing less than mental overload.

I'm glad to hear that Paris is being assertive and vocal. I'd be plenty worried and upset about my grandmother too, if she was missing for over a week and nobody could tell me why?

Darned if those kids do not resemble any black folks I know. No wonder Janice is so ticked these kids have so much of Michelle's money. That Jackson clan better not marry any more out of race or their offspring will not have any trace of being black. Weak genes? What is the deal?

I used to know a fella who was multi-ethnic. The traits aren't always instantly visible...

Dominant and recessive genes. REAL Darwin theory; not the inane claptrap misappropriated to people who do stupid things and die in the process...
