(CBS/AP) "The Amazing Spider-Man" is already a box office hit. The film, starring Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, swung into action with $35 million domestically in its first day - a record for a Tuesday movie opening.

The reboot of Marvel Comics' superhero outdid the previous leading Tuesday debut of $27.9 million for "Transformers," which opened the day before the Fourth of July in 2007.

The "Spider-man" opening day included $7.5 million in Monday midnight earnings.

The opening day results show the resilience of the Spider-Man brand, which set box-office records from 2002 to 2007 with the three films directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as the web-slinging superhero.

After a falling out between Raimi and distributor Sony on a third sequel, the franchise started over, with Marc Webb directing and Andrew Garfield slipping into Spider-Man's red-and-blue suit.

Just think - had the 1980s rebooted "Superman" every 3 years...

At some point, regurgitating everything so quickly will lead to choking. Which is probably okay as there's nothing left of substance to begin with...

Nice pic as well - relying on teenage sex in a adjunct scene that has little to do with the actual movie to get people to gawk. (I've not seen the movie, but if the primary plot revolves the pair of them engaging in coitus...)
