(CBS/AP) Jason Aldean has been fined for swimming in dangerous conditions at a Florida Panhandle beach.

Authorities say the country star was among 19 people cited for going in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday in South Walton County.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that double red flags had been up since Saturday because of dangerous rip currents. Lifeguards had ordered everyone to stay out of the water.

Aldean took to Twitter to address the $100 fine:

Responding to negative feedback, Aldean later tweeted that he was only joking:

I think it is funny how so many can some out with such strong comments from just a few sentences written. Never knowing anything else about the guy. Lighten up people and stop taking every little thing so serious. Hey made a mistake get over it like none of you have ever done anything wrong. Remember that next time you do 30mph in a 25 zone.

This guy sounds like an idiot. If he had gotten caught in dangerous current and had to be rescued, no doubt he would be indignant because the double red flag warnings were too vague.

Hey Jason...there is a reason to keep fools like you out of dangerous situations. Sooner or later when you start calling for help some hero is going to jump in after you and risk their life to save you. Pay attention to warnings and respect the authorities that put them there.
