Steven Tyler drops $1.1 million on world's fastest car

(CBS News) Steven Tyler dropped over a million dollars on the world's fastest street-legal car - the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder.

The rocker and "American Idol" judge snatched up one of only five 2013 models and dropped a reported $1.1 million on his new ride.

"Steven came to us last year and asked if we could build his Venom GT as a roadster," John Hennessey told Yahoo Auto.

Tyler's is the only convertible of the group and is able to accelerate to 200 mph in 15.9 seconds, beating Bugatti's Veyron by 8 mph, reports Yahoo.

Tyler just wrapped up the 11h season of "American Idol" and is now scheduled to hit the road with Aerosmith for its  summer "Global Warming Tour."

It would be interesting watching it try to outrun one of those electric-powered bikes they have now that take experts to control on 'takeoff'. Those things remind me of watching the speed-record trials in the Salt Flats.

he bought it because he can and most of us would too if we could. most of us don't have that kind of money ever to spend on a car but there are those that may not have it when they start out in life but end up with a ton of money, like tyler and other celebs. when you're wealthy you can do anything you want even if you are the ugliest person on earth. if you're poor as a church mouse and the best looking person in the world, few if any doors open to you. money is power. wonder who bought the other 4 that were made?
