That  comment she made in a tweet caused an uproar among her Thai fans who called it offensive, insulting and bad for the country's image.

The pop star tweeted to her 24 million Twitter followers, "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex."

The singer's comment is the latest publicity-making turn of events as "The Born This Way Ball" travels through Asia.

Lady Gaga's provocative lyrics and costumes have angered Christian groups in South Korea and the Philippines and Islamists in Indonesia, where the show may be banned.

Gaga is so influential in today's pop culture, society scene and teen influencers that the University of South Carolina developed a course based on her influences. The course, "Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame" depicts the unraveling of Lady Gaga's music, fashion, videos and artistic actions and their sociologically significant dimensions.

Well, at least she hasn't donned yet another meat dress (which in turn makes meat companies that much more profitable... and forced to slaughter more cows to keep up with available stock...)

What's the uproar? It's entirely true. Sit in any tourist spot for 1/2 hour and you'll get an offer. There's a range in quality from absolute crap to ones with Seiko innards. Why get outraged by the truth?

They should be outraged by those committing "the truth" instead of living in denial and acting as if there's no piracy or counterfeiting problem at all.

Not all are guilty of counterfeit goods, but the collective reaction on their part suggests willful ignorance and that "it can't happen here".
