(CBS News) "Desperate Housewives" bid its final farewell on Sunday night in a two-hour series finale that featured all of the signature elements of the beloved comedy-drama: a murder trial, a wedding, a birth and a death.

SPOILER ALERT

The trial of Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross), who is accused of the murder of Gabrielle's (Eva Longoria) stepfather, took a dramatic turn with Mrs. McCluskey (Kathryn Joosten) taking the stand  and claiming she was the one who killed Alejandro when it was really Gabrielle's husband Carlos (Ricardo Chavira). Mrs. McCluskey, who was diagnosed with cancer, made the confession before her death.

On the way to Renne (Vanessa Williams) and Ben's wedding, Julie's water breaks and her mother, Susan (Terri Hatcher), is forced to take the wheel of the limo and get them to the hospital.

Lynette (Felicity Huffman) gets back together with her estranged husband, Tom, after she makes a touching speech at the wedding.

In the end, the four housewives are seen sitting around a table playing poker. They make a promise to meet and play cards again.

We get to see where everyone is in the future: Gabby moves to California and gets her own show on the Home Shopping Network; Lynette and Tom move to New York and have a six grandchildren; and Bree and her new husband move to Kentucky,  where she ends up on the Kentucky State Legislature. Susan, the last one to move from Wisteria Lane, is seen taking one last drive down the street, watched over by the ghosts of all who  had lived there before.

i think susan and her whole family died. maybe in a car crash or something while she was driving through the town for the last time. that was why the ghosts were watching her. and why there was no future shown about her. i think. :o

if my theory is true, then it'll be extra sad ;(

I agree! It was absolutely awful and there was no ending for Susan. I was really curious to know what happened to her and her kids. I was very disappointed with the series finale. They should be embarrassed.

I hated it. It ended all sweet and nice. There wasnt any "cliff hangers" other than the end with someone we didnt even know. I was disappointed.
