"Desperate Housewives" cast mum on show's last episode
(CBS News) This Sunday, the housewives of Wisteria Lane will close their doors for the last time.
After eight seasons "Desperate Housewives" will sign off in a two-hour series finale on Sunday on ABC.
Because it's a show that has shocked many over the years, there has been a lot of speculation as to what will happen in its last episode. Those involved with the show are keeping it under wraps.
In the events leading up to the finale, the housewives are keeping a secret that could put Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) in jail for a murder she didn't commit. The only one who could save her is Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) who has to decide either to let her husband Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) confess or take the fall herself.
The show's creator, Marc Cherry, who has mostly kept quiet about the series' end, told the Associated Press that it includes a long scene that was foreshadowed in last week's episode when Susan Delfino (Teri Hatcher) talks about leaving.
"When Susan drives off the lane, I've had that ending in mind for seven years. We filmed it just like I saw it in my head, which is incredibly gratifying," he said.
"Desperate Housewives" debuted in 2004 and became a hit almost instantly, earning more than 17 million viewers a week.
Longoria told E! News she got emotional on the last day of filming.
"The minute they said, 'That's a wrap!' my hear just fell and my body collapsed, and I said I can't believe this is the last scene I'm going to film as Gabby," she said.
The "Desperate Housewives" series finale airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
