(CBS News) Bristol Palin is facing major backlash after bashing President Barack Obama's decision to support same-sex marriage.

In a blog post, titled "Hail to the Chiefs -- Malia and Sasha Obama," Palin criticized Mr. Obama, claiming he lets his two daughters, who have friends with same-sex parents, influence big decisions.

She also called out the Fox hit show "Glee," leading two members of the show's cast to respond.

"While it's great to listen to your kids' ideas, there's also a time when dads simply need to be dads," Palin wrote on Thursday. "In this case, it would've been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that's not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage."

Palin, a single mother herself, wrote, "We know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."

She took aim at "Glee," suggesting Mr. Obama's stance was based on watching too many episodes of the hit Fox TV series. "Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking," Palin explained. "In this case, it would've been nice if the President would've been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of 'Glee.'"

Celebrities, including some "Glee" cast members, have taken to Twitter to respond.

Even before Palin posted her blog, several "Glee" stars praised Mr. Obama on Twitter for throwing his support behind same-sex unions, including actors Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer.

Since its inception, "Glee" has featured several gay characters in prominent storylines. Its co-creator Ryan Murphy, who is gay, will host a dinner to raise money for Mr. Obama's presidential re-election campaign on June 6, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

I think Palin needs to straighten her own life out before rendering judgment on others. God knows I'm FAR from an Obama fan and hope that he's a 1 term president. However, Palins remarks regarding Obama getting his ideas from watching one too many episodes of Glee are just plain idiotic. Having a two parent family certainly didnt stop her from "spreading them" at 16 and having a baby out of wedlock to someone who has the brains of a gnat! Bristol....you can pull your foot out of your mouth now. In the future...and this goes for momma Palin too... reserve your remarks for people who give a crap! Oh.. wait... NO ONE DOES!!!!

Bristol Failing or whatever. I do believe you're just seeking attention like your poor mother. Your parents did not tell you that, "Those who live in glass houses DO NOT throw stones?". I do know that they did not give you any home training, especially, your mother who sings "family values and no sex before marriage" outside but right under her nose is a wild under age pregnant daughter. Of all people, you're NOT qualified to talk about mariage at all, Miss Tenage mother. By the way, WHERE'S YOUR HUSBAND???.

Where was his promised support over the last 3+ years? Oh yeah, bottled up until campaign time. If this was a Republican flip-flop with the same timing, these same commenter would be all over it.

Lap it up, sheep... lap it up.

Why is this hypocritical single parent who has achieved nothing on her own being given so much ink? What makes her opinion important? I don't get it.

Well, she's somehow Christian and can not only be forgiven but given a free ride thanks to her name and (yes, hypocritical) speeches.

Meanwhile millions who were in the same situation as Bristol don't get the same treatment. Why does Bristol deserve any better? Because her mother has to live on her looks because she cannot hold a job and men are vain (maybe because she quits too easily or because of scores of ethics issues)?

And, yes, I will forgive. Let's see Christians do a little forgiving first.

Turn off your caps lock key and we'll talk.

If you don't have a caps lock key, take note that the Timex Sinclair computer was discontinued a few decades ago and will thankfully not be serviceable by any qualified tech...

More "Christian values" from a person who can't be bothered to obey them?

What a double standard.

ZERO class.

And it's no wonder fewer people believe in religion when those who claim to can't be bothered to PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH.

Pretty much.

She's gotten a free ride, cashing in on her family's hypocrisy and her own supporters dare to support the double standard.

This is worse than socialism... far worse.
