John Travolta's rep calls lawsuit "complete fiction and fabrication"

(CBS News) John Travolta's lawyer has spoken out about a sexual battery and assault lawsuit launched at the actor by a masseur listed only by the name of "John Doe."

Reuters reports that Travolta, 58, is being sued for $2 million in punitive damages by the unidentified man, who claims the actor assaulted him sexually inside a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel, according to court documents.

In the suit, the masseur says Travolta made unwanted sexual advances and touches while in a private bungalow during a Jan. 16, 2012, massage appointment. TMZ has the lawsuit documents here.

"This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication," Travolta's rep told Entertainment Weekly. "None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. The plaintiff, who refuses to give their name, knows that the suit is a baseless lie. It is for that reason that the plaintiff hasn't been identified with a name even though it is required to do so."

Travolta wasn't even in California at the time, said  the rep, who noted the actor "intends to get this case thrown out and then he will sue the attorney and Plaintiff for malicious prosecution."

Travolta will next appear in "Savages," alongside Salma Hayek, Blake Lively and Uma Thurman. He's also attached to the Robert De Niro film, "Killing Season."
