Kelly Ripa says she could never co-host "Live!" with her husband

(CBS News) Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos are great together on-screen and off, but Ripa recently told Vanity Fair that she could never co-host "Live! With Kelly" with her husband.

"No one would make me happier than Mark, but he values our marriage and he says that he doesn't see how we could stay married and both do that show," Ripa told the magazine.

The show had been trying out a wide variety of co-hosts to fill Regis Philbin's shoes after he left the show in November. Consuelos had filled in for Philbin in the past, along with Josh Groban and Nick Lachey.

The couple, who met on the set of "All My Children," have been married for 16 years and have three children.

I stopped watching the show about two days after Kelly Ripa got hired on the show. She is incredibly phony and self absorbed. How about if they fire Kelly Ripa and start over with two new people! I'd go for that!

I've been thinking about this issue for quite some time (since Regis retired actually). I think there needs to be A 'VOTE' WHO SHOULD BE Kelly'S co-host!!
Base the contestants on your feedback thus far, then come up with the top 5 or 6 & have them do like a week at a time hosting (or whatever time). I'm sure some would be unable to commit but it would involve the viewers & help u to decide the co-host at the same time! 2 birds!

If rumors of Regis and Kelly Lee returning are true, Kelly's got herself a problem. Regis might be old but when they let him go, they released one of the most talented hosts ever, a decision which Im predicting will come back to bite ABC.

Of course ABC would welcome Regis back in any capacity, but he is enjoying his (semi) retirement and has no interest.

Don't be too sure they would have him back. He was great in his time but he was becoming very forgetful and was putting his foot in his mouth way too often. I think he left because he wanted people to remember him the way he was, not a senile old man.

This is just PR to get viewers to watch the couple for any sparks. The on-air pairing will be temporary until permanent co-host is found.
