(CBS News) Jimmy Kimmel didn't hold back during his comedy routine at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday night.

The evening's featured entertainer made wisecracks about Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Keith Olbermann, Rush Limbaugh and even President Barack Obama.

"If you're looking for the greatest threat to America right now, she's right there," Kimmel joked about Kardashian, one of the evening's guests. "When you took office, the Kardashians had one reality show," Kimmel said to Mr. Obama. "Now they have four. This is not a good trend."

Kimmel also called out Lohan, who attended the annual dinner as a guest of Fox News. The late night TV host joked that heroic airplane pilot Chesley Sullenberger should be careful when giving Lohan a ride home. "Make sure you don't run into a goose - a Grey Goose," he said.

Uggie, the canine star of the Oscar-winning film "The Artist," even had a mention. "Uggie is amazing," Kimmel said. "He can roll over on command. He's a Democrat."

Kimmel also brought up the Secret Service prostitution scandal in Colombia, saying he told Secret Service members that for $800 he wouldn't joke about them, "but they only offered $30."

"If this had happened on President Clinton's watch, you can damn well bet those Secret Service agents would have been disciplined with a very serious high five," Kimmel said.

Kimmel later asked Obama, "You remember when the country rallied around you in hopes of a better tomorrow? That was hilarious."

So how did Kimmel do?

New York magazine thought he did "his best," but called his routine "rather tepid," while the Washington Times described him as "edgy."

The Christian Science Monitor noted, "President Obama was pretty funny at the White House Correspondents' Dinner Saturday night. But late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel was the real funny man, targeting just about every class of Washington celebrity."

How sad our president would joke about eating a pit bull. Where are the animal rights groups when we have a president joking about this very serious subject.

Jimmy Kimmel's very humerous dialogue was the most creative and the most direct from and to the heart message comedy that I have ever seen in my 68 years of living. President Obama should get rights to use parts of it in his campaign. It really humanized the President and his wife in a way that even the biggest Obama criticizers had to at least stop and take a longer look at this man who has the toughest job in the nation.

i was really dissapointed with jimmy and obama. there was no reason for them to humiliate and bully people for their own gain. didn't obama sign a anti bully law this year. why did he choose to break the law. i don't get when you invite people as your guest and then you bully them. it was distasteful and dissapointing. i hope obama's daughters weren't watching.

Seriously? Kim Kardashian has made an INDUSTRY out of being the center of attention. She doesn't care what ANYONE says about her as long as they're talking about HER. And, unfortunately, it's working.

"The WHCA's annual dinner, begun in 1920, has become a Washington, D.C. tradition and is usually attended by the President and Vice President. Fifteen presidents have attended a WHCA dinner, beginning with Calvin Coolidge in 1924. The dinner is traditionally held on the evening of the last Saturday in April at the Washington Hilton." This is normal behavior at the dinner, and everyone knows they can be subject to a joke. No one takes this seriously, and the ones who do, do so for the purpose of grabbing attention.
