"Survivor: One World" finds loyalties shifting in a merged tribe
Mike Jefferson, the 30-year-old Seattle banker and one of the most physically daunting competitors, was ousted as the female castaways reverted to their all-woman alliance.
They were led by bridal shop owner Kim, who stepped into the leadership vacuum left by the loss of Colton two weeks ago. Kim has a long-range strategy, which she explained to Chelsea during the reward challenge. It calls for picking off the men with the female alliance and then taking Chelsea and Sabrina with her to the final three.
But initially, they need to let the men of their old alliance believe that they still are sticking together. The men want to vote out Christina, so Kim tells Troyzan that Mike wants him out, thus ensuring Troyzan's vote with the women.
Chelsea almost spoils the plan by discussing Mike's ouster in front of Jay, but Kim deftly heads Jay off by telling him everyone is agreed on getting rid of Christina. Jay, meanwhile, wins immunity in a challenge involving putting together a block puzzle. (The barbecue reward challenge also required teams to put together a puzzle.)
At the last minute, Kim admits on camera to some indecision because, as she astutely notes. voting Mike out will tip the women's hand and change the game .
At Tribal Council, host Jeff Probst says he is amazed that no one will admit to feeling vulnerable. This leads Tarzan to suggest that Probst is "being played."
To increase tension - there was very little of it in this week's episode - there was some careful editing and viewers saw none of the votes as they were cast this week. Will Kim hold fast to her plan?
She does, and Mike joins Jonas on the jury.
