(CBS News) Ashton Kutcher is reportedly getting another role as an Internet billionaire.

Kutcher, who plays high-tech whiz kid Walden Schmidt on "Two and a Half Men," has been cast as Steve Jobs in a movie about the late Apple co-founder, according to Variety.

The independent film "Jobs," based on a script by Matt Whiteley and directed by Joshua Michael Stern ("Swing Vote"), will follow Jobs from his early days as a "wayward hippie" up through his technology ventures.

This is one of two Jobs projects in the works. The other, based on the 2011 best-selling biography by Walter Isaacson, is being developed at Sony Pictures Studios.

Kutcher, who replaced Charlie Sheen on the long-running CBS sitcom, is scheduled to shoot the movie during that TV series' production hiatus.

He gained fame as Michael Kelso on the comedy series "That 70's Show," and has starred in such movies as "New Year's Eve," "No Strings Attached" and "Valentine's Day."

What HORRIBLE casting!

He needs to learn to speak like an adult and there is just no way he would be a convincing Jobs.

There ARE more qualified actors in Hollywood.

I wasn't an Ashton Kutcher fan, but you know, this might work! Also, I saw Ashton in western attire at ACM awards, and by golly in that 10 gallon hat he looked just like a young Hank Williams. Could play that part also!

I'm with you - I sure hope it's a joke!

If it wasn't intended, it will end up as one. Kutcher can't act his way out of a paper bag.

He doesn't even look anything like the late Steve Jobs!!! If I believed in an afterlife, I would imagine Jobs is facepalming in heaven right now.

Although I am really no fan of Martin Sheen, he did play the part of Charlie very well. Ashton just doesn't have what it takes. Sorry, but I quit watching Two and a Half Men after the first time he was on it. I thought he might be good but was very dissapointed. Don't think I'll bother to go see this Steven Jobs movie either.

From the precious irony of Jane Fonda playing Nancy Reagan.... we now have this. A travesty. It's like Mickey Mouse playing Albert Einstein..... "E equals.... what was that line again?"

Steve Jobs would be ******** semiconductors and pissing lcd screens if was still alive to see that one of the star's from Dude Wheres My Car would be playing him. It's of interest to note that Ashton Kutcher was in a film called The Butterfly effect because this development is just as ridiculous and improbable as the plot of that movie.
