Lionel Richie goes country with upcoming TV concert special
Singer Lionel Richie performs onstage during the 2011 UNICEF Ball presented by Baccarat held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Dec. 8, 2011, in Los Angeles, Calif.
/ GettyRichie's hits will be performed by country artists, including Jason Aldean ("Say You, Say Me"), the Band Perry ("Penny Lover"), Luke Bryan ("Running with the Night"), Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum ("Truly"), Jennifer Nettles ("Hello") and Rascal Flatts ("Dancing on the Ceiling"), among others. Richie will also perform some duets.
"It has been so rewarding to have my songs embraced by country music artists," Richie, 62, said. "Since Conway Twitty recorded 'Three Times a Lady' and Kenny Rogers sang 'Lady,' I have been welcomed into the country music family with open arms ... I've always felt right at home in country because I was raised just down the road from Nashville in Tuskegee, Alabama, where I was immersed in country, R&B, gospel and classical music. "
The concert tapes April 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will broadcast April 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
It coincides with the March 27 release of "Tuskegee," a collection featuring 13 tracks recorded as duets with Richie and various country artists.

- I missed this special & am wondering if I can watch it online, or if possibly it will be rebroadcast ( PLEASE ?????). I saw a clip of Lionel & Suzanne Alexander on CMT or GAC & heard them say the special was going to air on April 13th, but missed that it was going to be on CBS. I assumed since the clip I saw was on one of the other stations, that the special would air on CMT or GAC.
