Star Jones returns to "The View," discusses "ugly" exit

Star Jones, one of the five original co-hosts of ABC's "The View," made her first guest appearance on the show on Feb. 22, 2012.

(CBS) Star Jones, one of the original co-hosts of "The View," returned to talk show Wednesday as a guest to promote an awareness campaign about heart disease among women - her first visit back since her highly-publicized falling out with co-host Barbara Walters in 2006.

"It was ugly. Everything. It was a bad emotional time. Nasty things were being said in the media," Jones said after Walters insisted on discussing her exit, reports People magazine.

After Jones and Walters had the falling out, ABC decided not to renew her contract. Jones took Walters by surprise by announcing she would be leaving the show, causing her exit to come more quickly than expected.

"I wanted to go out on my own terms so that if I walked back here I'd feel good about it," Jones said. "I had eight fantastic years here. One was 'eh.' I came back to congratulate you on all you accomplished. I hope you congratulate me on what I accomplished."

Walters and co-host Joy Behar also asked Jones about her 2003 gastric bypass sugery, which Jones had tried to keep secret.

"We tried to protect you. We were told, 'Don't say it was gastric [bypass]. Say it was pilates and portion control,' " Behar said, then added, "You are now a skinny bitch. Congratulations."

by newelette March 1, 2012 2:55 PM EST: That Barbara Walters is one of the biggest hypocrites on television. Star dealt with her, even though Barbara with her faking must have been quite an ordeal for Star. If that wasn't bad enough, I'm sure that it took everthing that Joan Rivers had not to gasp for air when Barbara asked her the steps you take to have a facelift a/o plastic surgery. Barbara could write a book on that suject, she has no reason to ask Joan. Barbara has been stretched so much her face looks like it has been ironed. PLEASE give me a break. Star should have fired back on her and told her well Barb would you like to tell the viewers about the MANY LIFTS and TUCKS you had and how many. This is what I know she wanted to do. It had to have a taken a lot out of Star and Joan. Barbara makes it hard to make a buck.; Reply to this comment


by newelette March 1, 2012 2:26 PM EST: Star Jones is an attorney. She has been trained to be shrewd. The Apprentice is a show where this shrewd tatics are best used. You will never win on the Apprentice or Suvivor playing Mr. or Ms. Nice Guy or Girl. She was just playing the game well. Star is very much a Star a GOD loving Star at that. I'm sure that smile you saw was just her way of dealing with the real snakes that the angel was in the barrel with.; Reply to this comment

She's a grabber and user and it doesn't seem to matter who she steps on or over to get what she feels is her "due." Some people are that way and can't seem to overcome some bad habits. She's quite an intelligent woman but even her smile seems manipulative. sorry, star, you are not a star to me.; Reply to this comment
