(CBS) Whitney Houston's close friends and family began to say goodbye to the singer on Friday, the eve of her funeral.

A private viewing was held at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, N.J., the day before Houston will be remembered in a service at the New Hope Baptist Church.

Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was photographed arriving at the viewing. E! Online reports that guests also included the singer's mother, Cissy Houston, singer Dionne Warwick and music mogul Clive Davis.

The family arrived in a gold limousine, according to E!, and Cissy Houston and her granddaughter walked into the funeral parlor holding hands.

Whitney Houston's funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon. Among the 1,500 guests expected to attend the private services are Davis, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. Houston, who was 48, died in Beverly Hills, the day before the Grammy Awards.
