Bobby Brown: Will he attend Whitney Houston's funeral?

(CBS) There are mixed reports about whether Bobby Brown will attend the funeral of his late ex-wife, Whitney Houston.

Sources tell TMZ that family members don't want him at the funeral on Saturday in Newark, N.J., and according to the site, Brown hasn't received an official invite yet. But another source tells ABC News the R&B singer has been contacted about attending.

Brown's rep is keeping mum on the New Edition singer's plans, telling ABC, "Any report or statement that does not originate from my office about Bobby Brown or his representatives, is not authorized by Bobby Brown. We are not focused on reports, stories or false reports for that matter."

As of press time, Brown was still scheduled to perform with New Edition on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The funeral is slated for noon on Saturday at Newark's New Hope Baptist Church, probably leaving Brown enough time to get to the concert venue if he ends up attending the funeral during the day.

Meanwhile, Brown and Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, is feeling better, according to a statement released Wednesday. The 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina entered the hospital shortly after Houston's death on Saturday and has since been released.

"My daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better," Brown wrote. "We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina. She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye. I ask again that our privacy be respected."

People need to STOP lieing.. and the Houston family never said no such thing about Bobby not welcomed at his ex-wife's funeral..WHY would they?..Unless Bobby did something after Whitney's death that was disrespectful..and I can't see it that way either..when he has a daughter to protect during this horrendus time of loss for Whitney's daughter..named after her father

And I wouldn't trust TMZ as factual at all..TMZ a spin machine folks which is about RUMORS and gossip for ratings.. and you dumb-dumbs want to believe every word TMZ states as factual.. and to you naysayers.. Whitney would most definitely want the husband/ father- of her ONLY CHILD at her funeral..TRUTH BE TOLD!

Furthermore, Whitney and BoBBy loved each other as HUSBAND AND WIFE and Whitney and Bobby often said THIS after the divorce..she never said any unkind words about Bobby anywhere after the divorce...nor did Bobby about Whitney.

I hope Mr. Bobby Brown is sitting right with his daughter at the funeral and the Houston family..which SHOWS RESPECT and honors the only child the both of them had as husband and wife..and father and mother to Bobbi-Christina Brown; Reply to this comment

I was listening to the Wendy Williams and Whitney Houston interview taped in 2003 .. first let me say may Ms. Houston rest in peace.. but if you listen to the interview..its on the net (youtube).. will settle all of the-blame blame blame Bobby for Ms. Houston's unfortunate demise..

Two addicts who refuse to stop using is hot mess in marriage. Bobby may have gotten her on drugs, but guess what even after he was out of the picture she continued to use with their teen daughter. So stop putting all the blame on bobby. I know what being a addict is about and what living with one. IT a crazy ass situation and thank god everyday he sat us down and we are still together but got into recovery and been clean 4 years now..But im gonna say this there a days if it was in front of me I would do it thats how a addict thinks..when you got the money and got the dealers calling you, a addict wont say no. thats why you have change your playground, change your friends, and being nobodies it was easy for us to move away from the devils people and playground. Bobby Brown's career never made it to even HALF the heights that Whitney's did, and he just didn't have half the talent that she did. So, being emasculated by those realities, he may have beat her out of envy. After all, He had long been an addict, and if he couldn't make platinum status as an artist himself, there's no way in hell his woman would "show him up". I could not comment over at "Whitneys worth after death" so here I am.

The Grammys had the biggest audience in years because of her death, it's time those in attendance passed the hat, you too CBS.

The writers of her songs made millions including Dolly Parton for "I will always love You" It's time for them to pass the hat too

Oh, and everyone else that sponged on her talent but never contributed a shilling, Pass the hat.

Should be millions coming to her if all the hypocrites pay up.

A lot of people may not know that she is dealing with a whole lot right now, and whether the family liked Bobby Brown or agreed with him and Whitney's relationship is irrelevant, and if you love Bobbi Kristina you will put your opinion aside. She NEEDS her father. In recent months she's lost her paternal grandfather and grandmother, and now the baby has lost her mother. She needs consistency, togetherness and above all LOVE! Put your selfish feelings aside and put her needs first. Bobby and Bobbi Kristina we are here for you and I'm holding you up in prayer. Whitney may be gone in the naturel but her legacy, and her music will live on forever in the lives' she has touched.
