According to some published reports, Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina and cousin Dionne Warwick were also banned from entering Houston's hotel room, where the singer had been found dead at the age of 48.
Houston and Ray J have been linked together as far back as 2010. And as recently as Feb. 3, they were spotted leaving a Los Angeles restaurant. Insiders tell TMZ that Ray is "crushed" by Houston's death.
On Friday, Ray J appeared on "The Insider" to promote his new book, and when asked about his relationship with Houston, he maintained they were friends.
"You know, they blow this thing out of proportion," he said. "I mean, that's my friend. I've been knowing her for years and years and years, and she's a friend of the family. I have a lot of love for her and I have a lot of respect for her."
Ray J, 31, famously made a sex tape with his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
