(CBS) The world is getting their first peek at Beyonce and Jay-Z's bundle of joy, Blue Ivy Carter.

The famous couple posted photos of the their new baby on their web site.

The little Carter was born Jan. 7, 2012 in New York City.

The proud parents have already taken the step to file an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office to prevent other Blue Ivy babies and products, leading to speculation that they might try to market a baby line.

Recently, the couple was spotted at New York's Carnegie Hall, where Jay-Z was performing a benefit concert for the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship. Beyonce posted a picture of her svelte post-baby body, wowing the public with her amazing figure just one month after giving birth.

Capitalizing on one's spawn is nothing new. Everyone I know who has contributed to overpopulation take their legally entitled tax deductions. Since this offspring is quite literally a business, the couple should be able to write off everything from shampoo to booties. Kudos.
