Queen Elizabeth II: Photos unveiled after 60 years

The Queen Elizabeth II posed for this special Jubilee picture in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace, after she had delivered the traditional Queen's speech at the 1976 official State Opening of Parliament.

(CBS) A series of never-before-released photos of Queen Elizabeth II have surfaced just in time for her Diamond Jubilee.

The intimate portraits were taken in 1952 by photographer Kenneth Clayton, who worked for the BBC. According to the U.K.'s Telegraph, Clayton had been commissioned to take a series of pictures, but was not allowed to release them for 30 years. He kept his word - even to his death, but his grandson, Daniel Clayton, decided to make them public to mark the queen's 60-year reign.

Pictures: The Queen Through the Years

The photos feature a 25-year-old Elizabeth shortly after her accession to the thrown, with her husband, Prince Phillip, and their two eldest children, Prince Charles, who was 3 years old and Princess Anne, who was 18 months at the time.
