Reedy said authorities received a call about a suspicious vehicle parked outside a Baptist church. Travis was found inside his car with an open bottle of wine and smelling of alcohol, police said.

He was brought to the county jail and held for four hours as is policy for public intoxication, Reedy told CBSNews.com.

Travis released a statement on Monday to the Associated Press, saying, "I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."

Travis is on the road this month and is next scheduled to perform on Friday in Grand Ronde, Ore.

You know some guy was in jail for something like not paying a fine, and he got to meet a celebrity. Pure Karma. You got to love Democracy. He just performs and sings well. If you gave Heroin to the pope, he would become a junkie. Ask Rush Limbaugh. The media only makes humans into demi-gods for the unthinking masses. Oh how, frail the human animal. But I think he should have to do the same time as anyone else, but he won't. In America, the poor can't buy their way out. Why are most Judges lawyers? they are in it for the money.

I'd like to know why he wasn't charged with DWI as would be typical under such circumstances.

Assuming he wasn't behind the wheel then it woould seem that the charges were appropriate.

Who knows? On speculation: the cop may not have wanted to nail him, been distracted, star struck, tired, who knows. If anyone will find out it will be the tabloids. Remember the John Edwards, almost the Vice President of the United states affair "was initially reported by The National Enquirer, a US supermarket tabloid newspaper, but was given little or no coverage by many sources in the US mainstream media." The funny thing about celebrities is that, all media efforts aimed to the contrary, they're quite human.

There are people that drink and drive, but they aren't necessarily "drunks". Stupid, but not drunks. They go to a party, have some drinks, then go to drive home and get pulled over.

BUT, when you have someone PARKED, and SWIGGING ON AN OPEN BOTTLE??? Yeah, I think we can call old Randy a drunk.

Sad that just because you sing well, every time you stub your toe, the whole world has to know about it!
