Gisele Bundchen blames receivers, not husband, for Patriots' loss

Tom Brady of the New England Patriots chats with his wife Gisele Bundchen after losing to the New York Giants by a score of 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium on Feb. 5, 2012, in Indianapolis, Ind.

(CBS) Supermodel Gisele Bundchen stood by her husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, telling friends that the receivers were the ones to blame for the Patriots' 17-21 loss to the New York Giants.

Waiting for an elevator after the game with some other Patriots' wives, Gisele was videotaped saying, "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times. My husband cannot f---king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."

Earlier in the week, Bundchen reportedly sent out an email to loved ones asking for their support before the big game.

"I feel Tommy really needs our prayer, our support and love at this time," Bundchen reportedly wrote.

Bundchen, 31, and Brady, 34, married in 2009 and have a 2-year-old son, Benjamin. The NFL star also has a 4-year-old son, Jack, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

OK you dummies, Gisele's comment was in response to some random moron in the backround who was taunting her. What I heard on the audio was something like "Gisele, Eli owns your husband", and "Tom Brady can't catch the ball." The word CATCH is not a typo....that's what the a$$hole said. Her response was completely appropriate: "My husband cannot throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time". Makes sense now, doesn't it?? It would have been difficult for anyone not to tell the guy to ****. Guess I'm the only person on the planet who actually listened to the audio. CBS News: Please report accurately, or don't report.

To all those who have the added benefit of 20/20 hindsight and are critical of anyone who makes heated emotion driven comments; You are worse than those you criticize. I have advice for everyone so critical of others, SHUT UP! NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK!

I realize there is nobody that cares what I think either, but the fact remains we are all emotional humans that will inevitably make errors in judgement and speak out of that emotion. Just because they are celebrities does not make them less human.

I am only emotionally involved in that I was betting on a Patriot win. What I saw in the game was that the better "team" won. Tom Brady threw some poor, but catchable passes that possibly may have changed the outcome of the game. Both teams wanted to win, both teams did thier best that they could to win. Only one team could win.

For the largest part, I think that the members of both teams have been exemplary in thier sportsmanship and poise. It was a great game and both teams applauded for thier efforts in this competition. I also think that the officials in this game were also exemplary and allowed the game to be decided by play and not penalty. Well done!

Neither this thread nor the original story was about how the game was played, what the refs did or didn't do, or any player's individual performance. I think there are a thousand forums out there for that purpose. Just wanted to point that out.

Well, let's see: He's a whiner and a cad who plays for a cheater, and she's a skank with a bigger Adam's Apple than his. I will NEVER forget the announcement during a game - 'Tom Brady became a father today' Not, 'the woman Tom Brady impregnated and dumped for a better offer gave birth today'. That used to be considered shameful, that a man would have so little honor. Now it's celebrated on national TV.

Our celebrity-crazy culture has made them stars, so we are surprised that these people act like trash? And that they live their lives with a sense of unquenchable entitlement?? Look at it this way, when Brady married Bundchen, they left two other families alone!!

Fans of the losing team usually find faults with their players or the refs or the opponents dirty tricks. She said something that may or may not reflect on the team-mates performance. But when the media tries to agitate the situation by taking a private comment and publishing for millions to read and hear about it is simply unethical and desrves the scorn of the public. leave it alone. Let her apologize to any members of the team who felt unjustly criticized and let the team regroup for a greater effort in 2012. BTW, I am not a Patriots fan.

giselle is an idiot. she thinks things are bad on the team for her husband now? blaming teammates for the loss is gonna make it nothing but worse, now, not only have they lost...but teammates resent him.

Commenting more so on the CBS This Morning rant from this morning... why is this news? Sh'e a supermodel-not to rude, but her profession is not based on her public speaking ability, in fact, it's the complete opposite. So why is a supermodel defending her husband by returning someone's smack talk news? It is what it is-one person talking smack, and another returning an equal amount of smack talk. It'd be hard for her to come back talking about the Giants... they won.

I get it- she was twisting the knife into the receivers immediately after the loss. My point is, why is the news emphasizing something that would've passed unnoticed otherwise. Her comment was not intended for the receivers. She was not making a public announcement to the microphones, the cameras just happened to be behind her when she was emotionally upset (and may have been drinking-it's the superbowl). What about the other guy? CBS didn't mention a single thing of the initial comment, like, "what a d!<* to twist the knife to the wife of the quarterback that just lost the superbowl... what an @$$hole!". Nothing like a one-sided news article. If the news is going to report on football smack talk, do it with some class, or don't report on it.

I agree! This shows how low-class the media has become for sensationalism.
