(Credit: Lewis Jacobs/NBC)Shortly after the Super Bowl ended, the TV talent competition returned for a second season with the first round of blind auditions, assisted by celebrity mentors Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera.
Two contestants received all of the judges' approval, but one hopeful, Daniel Rosa, 20, from Riverside, Calif., didn't get any love with his performance of "Animal" by Neon Trees.
Here's how the others stood up:
Jesse Campbell, 42, a single father from Chicago, sang Leon Russell's "A Song For You" and chose Aguilera as his coach. She promised to fight for him.
Juliet Simms, 25, performed the Beatles' "Oh! Darling" - much to the liking of both Green and Levine, who turned their chairs around at the same time. She'll be on "Team Cee Lo."
The 17-year-old contestant Rae Lynn sang Miranda Lambert's "Hell on Heels" -- and ended up on Shelton's team.
Opera singer Chris Mann, 29, performed a song for his mother, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Aguilera, who loved his rendition of "Because We Believe," became his mentor.
Former "Mousketeer" Tony Lucca was on "The Mickey Mouse Club" with Aguilera and her fellow Mouseketeers Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. The judges praised his performance of Ray Lamontagne's "Trouble," and Levine ended up taking him on. Aguilera eventually recognized Lucca from her "Mickey Mouse Club" days. When she said hello afterwards, Aguilera told Lucca that Spears used to have the "biggest crush" on him when they were kids.
