Leslie Carter suffered apparent overdose: Report

(CBS) There's still no official word on what caused Leslie Carter's death. An autopsy was inconclusive, and toxicology reports will likely take a few weeks. But speculation has already started.

Leslie, the sister of Aaron Carter and Backsteet Boy Nick Carter, died on Tuesday at the age of 25.

People.com reports that Leslie had been taking depression medication and that she suffered from an apparent overdose, according to a police report.

"There were no visible signs of trauma," coroner Richard Mackowiak told E! News. "We are awaiting a toxicology report to determine a cause of death ... Results of the toxicology test are made public at the discretion of the family."

Although nothing is confirmed, sources tell TMZ Leslie struggled with prescription medication addiction. Police say they found medication to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety nearby.

Leslie recently moved from Canada to upstate New York so she can be closer to family to try to beat her addiction, according to the website.

TMZ sources say family members left Leslie at home while they ran errands for an hour, but when they returned she was unconscious.

Leslie leaves behind her husband Mike and her daughter Alyssa Jane, who was born in April 2011.

She recorded an album in 1999 under the Dreamworks Records, but it was never released. One of Leslie's songs, "Like Wow!," appeared on the first "Shrek" film soundtrack.

Leslie's musical siblings spoke up about the loss shortly after news broke about her death. Nick, who's currently on a solo tour, has decided to stay on the road and dedicate the outing to Leslie.

"Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform," explained Nick, who plans to perform his scheduled show Thursday night at New York's Irving Plaza.

Aaron, meanwhile, who's starring in the off-Broadway show, "The Fantasticks," plans to take some time off from the production.
