Heidi Klum and Seal announce separation

(CBS) Model/"Project Runway" host Heidi Klum and singer Seal are separating.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," they announced in a statement to People magazine on Sunday.

The statement continues, "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.

"We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy."

Klum and Seal married in 2005 and have four children: Leni, 7, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2.

On Saturday, TMZ reported that Klum was to going file for divorce.

My question is why do these two - and all celebrities who do it, for that matter - ANNOUNCE that they're not seeing anyone else?

I don't announce to the world that I broke up with someone. No one else I know does it - at least certainly not in a civilized fashion in a press release. People will gt the message when you start dating other people. Walking up to someone and saying, "Hi, I'm famous. I've broken up with my boy/girlfriend. Wanna go out sometime?" is equally effective.

So what the hell is the point of an "announcement"? Do we send flowers. RSVP for the "breaking up party". Do you get a ring for it? Plan your "breaking up anniversary"?

Seriously, get over yourselves.

Another example the hypocritical, phony world of Hollweird. These two jammed their in-your-face lovey-dovey crap in our faces every year and gushed to the papparizzi about their renewal of vows each year...blah blah... So much for that. They wanted everyone to think their marraige was so special...but they are spoiled self centered celebutards. Funny how no one celebrates normal people married for 25, 35 years anymore - but they gush over these publicity hounds if they last more than a year. Pathetic.

Completely agree with everything you said. It is pathetic. I'm so glad to read in all of these posts that people out there feel the same way I do about Hollywood. They are not normal, not heroes, not role models. Just vain, fake, self obsessed millionaires w/ no grasp on reality and I'm sick of all of them!
