Elton John's husband slams Madonna's Golden Globe win

(CBS) Not everyone was happy about Madonna winning the Golden Globe for best original song on Sunday night - namely Elton John and his husband David Furnish.

John and Madonna were competing against each other in the best original song category, and after Madge's win, Furnish, blasted the singer in a private message on Facebook, according to TMZ, writing, "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!"

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit," Furnish added. TMZ reports the British filmmaker called Madonna's acceptance speech embarrassing in its narcissism, noting that her recent criticism of Lady Gaga "shows how desperate she really is."

John, meanwhile, launched into the Madonna bashing even before the ceremony began, telling Carson Daly that Madonna had "no f---ing chance" of winning the honor. When asked if "those were fighting words," he said, "No, those are accurate words."

John was wrong. Madonna ended up taking home the Golden Globe for "Masterpiece" from her film, "W.E.," toppling John's nomination for "Hello Hello," which was featured in the animated movie "Gnomeo & Juliet."

This isn't the first time John has called out the Material Girl. In 2004, he accused her of lip syncing and criticized her live performances.

After her Golden Globes win on Sunday, Madonna referenced their previous arguments and laughed off John's comments while chatting with the press backstage. According to UsMagazine.com, Madonna said John "speaks to me for the next couple of years. He's been known to get mad at me, so I don't know. He's brilliant, and I adore him, so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad."

Both are good artist! Madonna won fair and square. Elton needs to stop crying like a baby. And as far as David, he needs to shut up!

I forget, was it the Emmys, Oscars, MTV awards, Black Entertainment Awards, People's Choice, Golden Globe, Daytime Emmys, Grammys, or some other one that I forgot the name of? It's hard to keep them straight as they're all basically celebrities congratulating themselves ( I know I'm forgetting the "play" one where people get awards for shows that very few people actually see. That probably explains why I can never remember that one.). I'd use Wiki to look it up but Wiki is down to protest SOPA.

Perhaps there should be a SOPA awards show where the greedy S.O.B.s from the recording industry congratulate themselves for ripping the most customers/artists. "And the winner in the category of "Greediest *astard is ..... Sony".

I love Elton John's music, but there's no excuse for his boorish behavior toward Madonna. It's rude and disgraceful. If Sir Elton doesn't like Madonna, that's his prerogative. However, that's no excuse for bashing her and her music on national television. I'm glad she won because Sir Elton's bad behavior backfired in his face. He's a great talent who behaved very badly. Shame on both of you, Elton and husband, David!

Gracious or not by Furnish (he should ahve kept his mouth shut), Madonna doesn't hold a candle to Elton John and his talent. Many years ago during the "height" of her [short, flash-in-the-pan] career, she admitted in an interview it took her an average of four minutes to write lyrics for her pop songs. Makes sense, with all the repetitive vap they had, and not exactly "deep."

although his comments were less than flattering ... his musical catalog stands on it's own as one that could rival any contemporary musician.
