Bill Maher "Tebows" in new set of tweets

Bill Maher tweets about Tim Tebow on New Year's Eve 2011.

(CBS) Bill Maher has taken more hits at Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. A week after poking fun at the NFL star on Twitter, the "Real Time" host is back at it, and now he's including visuals.

In his latest series of tweets, Maher posted two photos of himself "Tebowing" - aka getting down on one knee as Tebow does on the field.

"Just in case #Kim Jung-iL DID die and came back to life, I decided to do my daily Tebowing by him," Maher wrote on New Year's Eve.

In one of the photos, Maher is seen kneeling in a tree with the accompanying tweet: "TREEbowing Happy New Year everybody and thanks to the 600,000 who joined me on twitter in 2011."

Maher first sparked controversy over his Christmas Eve tweet, which combined Tebow, Hitler, Jesus and Satan all within Twitter's 144 character limit. That message sparked both outrage and support for Maher's humor.

The comedian has since responded to all of the attention: "Overreaction fr biblethumpers re my Tebow tweet reminds me of North Koreans wailing at the Kim Jung-il funeral: Brainwashing is brainwashing," he wrote.

Another tweet about Tebow referenced Katy Perry and Russell Brand's recent divorce plans. "My thoughts/prayers go out to Russel [sic] and Katy and I'm calling on our lord and savior Tim Tebow to bring them back together for a makeup [expletive]," Maher tweeted.

Tell us: Do you think Maher is funny, or are his tweets about Tebow over the top?

Maher the "PIG" is a poor excuse for a human being. It's comforting, however, for those of us who have a sense of dignity, to know that he and his disgusting followers WILL meet their "evil maker" in the end, and will forever be forced to pay severely for their total lack of compassion and empathy for no one but themselves.

Have a good time down in the burning gates of YOUR maker!

Interesting story on Tim Tebow...

Inspiring Story for New Year
I read recently about a woman named Pam, who knows the pain of considering abortion. More than 24 years ago she and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminate food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant.

Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. Pam said the doctors didn't think of it as a life they thought of it as a mass of fetal tissue.

While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider an abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we'll name him Timothy and we'll make him a preacher.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam's youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father's ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam's son is Tim Tebow.

The University of Florida's star quarterback became the first sophomore in history to win college football's highest award the Heisman Trophy. His current role as quarterback of the Denver Broncos has provided an incredible platform for Christian witness. As a result, he is being called The Mile High Messiah.

Tim's notoriety and the family's inspiring story have given Pam numerous opportunities to speak on behalf of women's centers across the country. Pam tebow believes that every little baby you save matters. I pray her tribe will increase!

We find Bill Maher funny enough to be the only reason we subscribe to HBO. We have seen him in person and he was really funny, albeit too blue. His recent stuff about the football guy is getting a tad ridiculous. Funny, but move on, Bill. I almost feel like this football kid is not worthy of Maher's attention. One last thing, didn't Jesus admonish his followers that they should prayer in private so that they wouldn't be seen as too showy and proud like the other bunch that prayed in public so everyone could see how pious and prayerful they were. Maher is taking a shot at the football player who (among the many) ought to be admonished by all the Christian who are so critical of Maher. If the guy wants to kneel down in front of his God, wouldn't the locker room be a place more in line with what Jesus thought appropriate. Bill Maher is a closet theologian.

I think that it was their intention that Jesus questioned. Jesus also said "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you in front of my Father". I believe that Tebow's intentions are to give praise to God. We followed him in his college career when he had John 3:16 painted on his face during every game. He is only being true to himself. I can't believe how this is disturbing people. This is the country of "Freedom of Speech".

I can only assume when I hear or read comments regarding scripture that the persons reply is one of guessing or giving their "Take" on God's word. Truth is not elusive it does require one to seek. Many Christ followers would model 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Well I have news for you all. Jesus loves you anyway! I love Tim Tebow and everything that he stands for! God Bless Tim Tebow and God Bless you all! "in this world there will be trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world!" John 16:33.
As Christians we are NOT God's puppets. We can go through the same trials and tribulations as non-believers. The difference is, we know that God is with us to see us through. God offers us peace in the midst of our storms. It is very comforting. God isn't mad, he isn't judging us, he loves us unconditionally like a parent loves a child. He doesn't force his love on us...he offers his love and grace freely to those who seek him.
I am a breast cancer survivor and have been through some pretty tough stuff. I had a sense of peace throughout treatment knowing that God would get me through. I wish that you all could experience his God's love and peace.
I'm sure that this post will draw attacks. I wish you all a Blessed New Year!

How in the world can you possibly speak for God? Didn't Jesus admonish his disciples that they should pray in private? Why doesn't Tebow pray in the locker room like Jesus commands? Respectfully, you don't have a clue what Tebow is like in his private life ("everything he stands for"?). Maher is an atheist and a child of God. Do you really think that God is offended by Maher? He is God, how could this be? Best wishes for your recovery.

Coona...it was the intention of the disciples. I never said that Maher wasn't a child of God. If you read my post again you will see that I said that he loves us all unconditionally. As for Tebow...we followed him during his college career. In every game he had John 3:16 painted on his face. He has always been bold in his faith. Free country, free speech...

Maher wouldn't be tweeting that about a Muslim. He doesn't have the balls.

You're probably right, but when Mohammed Sheik Abn (made up name) falls down on the field and does the prayer thing towards Mecca, we'll see. And I don't mean some guy who's name used to be Bobby Lee Smith. I mean a real Muslim. We'll see how quick Maher is then. Lots of comics will be a little slower to respond. Bet on it.

TIM TEBOW NEEDS TO HONOR GOD BETTER!!!

Tim Tebow will be blessed by ending his endorsement of the company
named after the pagan goddess NIKE.
The God who gifted Tim with his skills is not happy with that...
the pagan goddess NIKE began with Satan...
God is opposed to Tim's support of the company honoring the name of that goddess.
God has sent me to share this.

You're right, he did the commercials I remember the hype, but I dont think they actually aired it. (Maybe they did????) I know he is politically conservative, but given the amount of exposure he gets, he has for the most part remained non-political. I guess I commend him for not crossing the political boundary as much as he could if he wanted. I also think Maher could pic his foes better, but I agree if you wwant to be that vocal about your faith youd better be ready for some negative feedback and ridicule. I actually like what one of the other commenters posted, 'Religion should be more of a walk and less of a talk'. BINGO--short and sweet.
