Van Halen announces 2012 tour with David Lee Roth
David Lee Roth receives a kiss from guitar player Eddie Van Halen at the Van Halen Press Conference on Aug.13, 2007, in Los Angeles.
/ GettyAfter months of speculation, the rockers finally announced the news on Van-Halen.com through a series of video clips. Specific tour dates will be unveiled soon, with tickets starting to go on sale Jan. 10.
The 2012 tour is expected to feature Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen. Roth parted ways from the group in 1985.
In the years since, Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone took turns as frontman. Roth joined Van Halen at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996 before returning for a tour the following year.Original bassist Mike Anthony is not expected to perform with the reunited 2012 line-up, as he's busy playing with Hagar in the supergroup Chickenfoot.
In November, Van Halen signed a new deal with Interscope Records, and with that, the group has been working on its first full-length studio album with Roth on vocals since 1984. It will also mark Van Halen's first new studio release since 1998's "Van Halen III."

- I can't claim to be their number one fan, but I've always loved Van Halen & would have done anything to see them back in the day before David Lee Roth 'moved on'...After Sammy Hagar took center stage,I remember thinking that it would never be the same. Who could command the stage and audience like Roth? In my opinion, his zany over the top antics were such a huge part of what Van Halen personified. Even though I was aware of Eddie's unbelievable talent,I was skeptical and thought that Van Halen may have seen their better days. WRONG! Sammy Hagar did bring a different vibe to the band but in retrospect,I don't think they could have picked a better 'replacement'...Alot of good music emerged during that era. It won't be the same as seeing them in their hey day,but I've got to see these guys & am grateful they put this tour together.

- I've paid big money to see Van-Hagar and loved it. But getting rid of Mike Anthony doesn't sit well with me. Plus Roth is a ****** bag lounge lizard who creeps me out. I used to love Eddie Van Halen's guitar genius, but if he would get rid of their long time bassist, he must be a ****** too. They won't see any of my ticket money this time around.

- I read that Mike Anthony quit when they let Sammy go. He is playing with Sammy Hagar now. I like Van Halen, however, I'm not a David Lee Roth fan. So I probably wont be making this concert either. I cant get past David Lee Roth's stupidity act. He's sooooo! Im not even gonna say it.

- Seriously, No Michael Anthony.... What a Shame. Celebrating it's 40th as a band without the original band. Brilliant.

- Was there from the start when "running with the devil" first came out told the new wife back then that these guys were going to be around for along time.Thought they were great with david lee roth. But they were the best with sammy hagger as lead. Micheal anthony should be there and so should hagger. that would be a awesome tour would pay to see that. won't pay to see roth sing hagger though. Seen them in virginia in 1977 0r 78 was great then but would prefer haggar songs like "right now" "love walks in" "why can't this be love"

- I am a HUGE VH fan. Both Dave AND Sammy. I was quite "meh" on Cherone though. He sounded like a Sammy knock-off to me. I will miss Michael Anthony but if they come anywhere near me I will go. I've seen every tour since 1984 at least once.

- Same here! Everytime I hear Jump on the radio I have to turn it up and RIP the knob off.

- Hopefully Roth won't do his incredibly fake, phony crying before each rendition of "ice cream man" like he did last time around. And why is he wearing his grandfather's bib overalls? These guys are way past their prime and are running on the fumes of their past glories. $100 million, they made last time and you all want to contribute to their bank accounts again?

- I heard this morning on HLN that Van Halen would be touring with DLR, and almost had to change my Depends, lol. Seriously, I do not have any bladder problems, yet!!! I was in my early twenties when MTV debuted and Van Helen with DLR doing Jump was on there constantly. After hearing the news, I got on my computer, went to YouTube and watched the Jump video, and there I was, right back in the eighties again lol!!! I do not expect DLR to do any Somersaults, but it sure would be nice to see some of those sexy moves again. Still an Eighties Fan.
