Prince Harry helps friend after mugging in London

(CBS/AP) Prince Harry showed up at a London police station to help his friend, who was mugged on a south London street while on the phone with Harry, according to royal officials.

Harry, 27, reportedly raced across the city to help his friend Thomas van Straubenzee. When he couldn't find van Straubenzee, Harry went to the local police station, where he gave a witness statement.

Police now say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the Nov. 30 robbery and have recovered the stolen cell phone. According to The Daily Mail, the suspect has been released on bail.

This incident is believed to the be the first time a senior royal has walked into a police station, reports The Mail.

Prince Harry and van Straubenzee are childhood friends. He is also close with Prince William and was one of his ushers at his wedding, reports The Mail.

Harry, an army helicopter pilot, recently returned from a two-month training exercise in the United States.

In another royal incident, Queen Elizabeth was found bewildered and waiting, in her gown on the edge of her bed, for her dresser to turn up because she didn't know how to dress herself (true story). Apparently her dresser was late for duty.

Prince Harry is the first to walk into a police station? Its nice to see that some of the royals are graduating from that far removed bird cage existence. Let us hope the trend continues.
