(CBS) The hosts of Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" apologized after a 30-pound cannonball filmed for their show misfired and accidentally blasted two homes and a parked minivan in Dublin, Calif., on Tuesday.

Hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage weren't at the Alameda County bomb ordnance range when the incident took place. But on Wednesday, they personally visited the families affected by the accident to apologize.

Describing the accident as the worst thing to happen during the eight years "MythBusters" has been on the air, Savage told The San Francisco Chronicle, "It's a wake-up call."

He added, "Honestly, the feeling of embarrassment is not something we're indulging in right now. We feel for the families and the people affected by this."

Savage addressed the situation on Twitter, noting, "It's true, a cannonball got away from a Mythbusters experiment in Dublin, CA. Nobody hurt thank goodness. Jamie and I toured the damage."

After the visit, Savage wrote, "Now it's back to SF, to meet and discuss how to keep this from ever happening again. Very intense. We're SUPER relieved no one was hurt."

He also cleared up any rumors about "MythBusters" getting canceled. "We're still in production," he wrote.

The fact they are taking full blame and going to those affected shows the quality of the people on the show.
Most other shows would claim accident and brush it under the rug.

Kudos to Jamie and Adam for stepping up.
Keep the show going guys!

Wow, I can't imagine how fast that cannonball must have been traveling. Unbelievable. To bounce around inside one home, through all the walls, and keep on going to ricochet off another house and then through the window of a van? That was a powerful shot.

Considering how often the Mythbusters team blows stuff up, their safety record is really good. I love the show. And I love it when they blow stuff up, it's the best part!! Who can forget the water heater episode, that explosion was one of the best EVER. All in the name of science, of course.

Anyway... I'm glad nobody was hurt. Very glad.

It just was a Cannon Ball, that just hit 2 Houses, 1 SUV, (with out Mommy or Babies) that traveled a Couple Hundred Yards, by way that the birds fly.
Nor did they hit any Birds Flying Around!, like the State Bird of California, or a Bird of Pray like a Red Tail Hawk, now you would see Game Wardens, Officers of Endangered Wildlife, DOJ, IG, followed up by the Terminator. Thank God it didn't hit a Red Wood Tree that Earl Flin or John Wayne stood behind during a break in the filming of the Alamo or Lowrance of Iran, because the Tree Hungers Loves Greenpeace would be a War with them!! and if they hit a Bald Eagle sitting in a Red Wood Tree befor hitting 2 Houses 1 SUV (that did have Mommy and Babies) it would just be news about the tree getting the bird and they would have been gives 100 years at hard labor in Iraq!!!!

They made Millions on these Stunts, that at First was being tested in areas that these type of tests was far far away from people, or was just urban legions. They made a led balloon fly, shoes that floated, but now they are testing Cannon Balls by firing Cannons in City Limits? What's next, a home made Laser, powered by Solar Panels that came from NASA that has what or who knows made of, that Iran will pay a few Supper-tankers of oil for, and now, knows how an where to find this miss place Top Secret JUNK IRON!!
This is what cause Big Government, People that in their Minds are just having fun and is really trying to be Safe. But from one Stunt to the next one, they get even bigger and better for ratings.
They now don't Lucky for not Hurting, but for not Killing someone! When it is a Blessing that this hasn't already happened in the past. If the truth was known, it probably already has, but no one from the Public (down range from them) seen it or knew what almost has just Happen!!
They are not actors, they are Jethro Bodeans' with Jed Clamped' Check Book!!!

The drugs started kicking in during your first sentence. You need to try to communicate when you are not taking those drugs. Just a suggestion.
