(CBS) Kim Kardashian hasn't been sporting her 20.5 carat engagement ring since announcing her split from Kris Humphries on Monday. The divorce news begs the question whether she'll keep the ring, or return the reported $2 million stunner to her ex.

Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner, seems to think the reality star should keep the ring. Although she said it's up to the former couple, Jenner told "Fox and Friends" on Thursday, "A gift is a gift. If you look at the etiquette books, it says keep a present."

Jenner added, "But I don't think Kim is as concerned about that as everything else. I don't think it's about the gifts or the money, it's about what she's feeling and about two people and how their lives are changing."

During her visit to "Good Morning America" on Thursday Jenner reiterated her sentiments about the ring, saying, "I hate an Indian giver. It's a gift, you know."

Jenner has been making the media rounds to promote her new memoir, "Kris Jenner ... And All Things Kardashian."

the 'big rock' is actually the engagement ring ... not the wedding ring. etiquette actually says the engagement ring should be returned when the engagement has been broken off. although the engagement was technically formalized by the wedding itself ... one could argue that the whole 'agreement of commitment' was never really there if it only took 70 odd days for it all to turn sour.

there's a right thing to do ... and then there's everything else. hopefully kim realizes the distinction here and chooses the right path.

In addition to the lack of cultural indigenous knowledge. The most offensive comment is that she referred to the ring "a symbol of commitment" as a gift. Since Kim ended that commitment, the most respecful thing would be to return the ring.

Turn about is fair play. Kardashian was the original 'indian giver' (hate the term, but Jenner used it) because she gave herself in marriage and snatched it back. She has done nothing but defraud Humphries from one end of this thing to the other. There cannot be love in the equation if they didn't try marital counseling! It has to be a faked event. And making a 'case' over a diamond? Diamonds are gauche - they are artificially priced and about as rare as sand. If it is a blood diamond, then it is worthless and should be dumped in the ocean.

Kris Jenner fails to realize that an engagement ring is not a gift. I sure he did say, here, I want you to have this gift as a token of my love, no strings attached! I don't think so!!! Her mother is just as greedy as she is and it's all about money and fame for them. Kim filed for divorce so I think she should give Kris H. he's ring back. Besides pawn it, what is she going to do with it!!1

Mini Bernie Madoffs. Contemptuous, arrogant, shallow people. Let this serve as a lesson to men. There are millions of beautiful women in this world to choose from. But it's what's under the surface that really counts. This young woman and her mother are the epitome of WYSIWYG...vapid empty arm candy that will take you for all your worth. Next time give more attention to the down to earth girls who may not necessarily be the "beauty queen". Besides, beauty is fleeting.

Furthermore, she is wrong in her assessment of the ring. It is NOT a gift. If the guy has an smarts at all he should sue her. Again, disgusting family.
