Justin Bieber a dad? Pop star ignores the "gossip"

(CBS) Justin Bieber took to Twitter Wednesday to address reports that he's the father of a 3-month old boy. Although the 17-year-old pop star didn't directly mention the baby daddy allegations, he hinted at the tabloid headlines, writing, "all the rumors...the gossip....Im gonna focus on the positives....the music" -- referring to his new Christmas album, "Under the Mistletoe," released this week.

Later he tweeted, "so Im going to ignore the rumors...and focus on what is real. an opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music! Love yall!

Bieber has been the subject of gossip before, but probably none as jaw-dropping as the latest paternity allegations.

According to Star magazine, Mariah Yeater, 20, filed court papers, charging she had sex with Bieber backstage at one of his Los Angeles concerts last year and that he's the father of her newborn child.

Yeater also alleges that Bieber didn't want to use protection because he said it was his "first time." She's asking the court for a paternity test and is also seeking financial support from the Canadian singer. A court hearing in the paternity case is slated for Dec. 15.

Bieber's team fired back at the lawsuit, telling RadarOnline.com, "While we haven't yet seen the lawsuit, it's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims. We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations."

Meanwhile, a Bieber insider told People.com the story is hard to believe because Bieber "is never alone. There's always someone with him. He's never met this woman."

One woman Bieber is spotted with a lot these days is his current gal pal, singer-actress Selena Gomez. They went public with their relationship in March.

by MarkUMywords November 4, 2011 7:59 AM EDT: If it did happen, and if the law says that Bieber lacked capacity to consent, then he cannot be held legally responsible under the law in a paternity lawsuit. That's why it's called "statutory" rape. Plaintiff has failed to state a claim upon which relief could be granted. Case dismissed.; Reply to this comment

If this woman is not telling the truth, and frankly I think most people find the story unbelievable, why should he bow to everybody who makes up an outrageous story? DNA samples are not the same as getting an autograph. I really have to wonder what's going on behind that lawsuit. And it's sooooo interesting that THIS story came out via a gossip mag FIRST. Suspicious, maybe?? If anything, Bieber's lawyers should be the ones demanding a DNA sample IMO.

It's not true! If you know him the way the beliebers and Bieber-holics do it's not true. That's also rape right there so if it is true it's on her and it's rape so technically she would have reported herself but it's not true His mom was 19 when she had him and his parents divorce why would he follow that example when he said himself and I quote "I don't think you should have sex unless you really love that person!"
